Written by a police officer and reference to Colorado.
A pretty good read.
clip of the article.
Conclusion
The right to self defense — as well as the right to keep and bear arms — is fundamental and has huge support in this country. Open carry has come about because of perceived government infringement on those rights. You as a law enforcement officer will be looked upon as part of that infringement and will incur indignation, hostility, and anger expressed as verbal or non-verbal protest. Don’t take it personally. They see government when you contact them. Stay calm, professional, watchful, and respectful.

I really liked it.
That cop did a really good job of explaining things.
I have a cousin and an uncle (father and son) who are both cops and it is interesting how much they very in opinion on this. My uncle does not like open carry in fact he does not want anyone other then Govt. to own or use firearms while my cousin is a Firearms fanatic and love's the 2nd amendment and open carry/conceal carry. My cousin looks at it as if he were a civilian and how he would feel if he were not a cop and my uncle looks at it like he is from the govt. and is here to help you but he should have special status because he is a cop (He should be able to own firearms because of his status) and he never looks at it from a civilian's point of view.
Yea--very good article--his one on concealed carry is very good also.

Both your uncle and your cousin ARE civilians.

I was hoping that by bringing it up, that everyone would avoid bashing.
Both articles were great reads. The comments sections showed a not so surprising amount of common sense amongst those posters who purported to be active or retired LE. it was actually very refreshing to see a thought out and very reasoned discussion regarding how to deal with armed citizenry. So throw a check mark back into the "it makes sense" column and have a nice day!

Good read. I also read the Concealed Carry article. Some good information in there, and a good, positive view point.
