View Full Version : How to tie a Monkey Fist knot.
I used these two pages and tied one. Takes some practice, that's for sure.

Isn't that one of the positions in the Kama Sutra?

Ahh yes. The always popular MF.
If it isn't, it should be. Donkey Punch is for amateurs. Monkey Fist is where it's at!
There is also this. My little brother has this book.

haha...ill have to try that out[ROFL2]
How bout the 5 finger death punch knot?
I think a knot made out of five fingers is just called a "fist."
Going to have to try to make one today
I've made some of these for the local LE in the area, they seem to love them. Makes it easy to grab there keys.

I think 10 granny knots is just as good
Monkey Fist? Isnt that a popular local band? No? Well it should be!
Bonus points for knowing what the MF was originally used for.
Now tie a turk's head.[Viking]
Throwing ropes longer distances. Tie a Turk's head in the middle for added weight.
Aren't we fast on the keyboard. :D
Technically, the MF was used on the end of a heaving line. Contrary to the second link, it could be weighted.
The turk's head is for a completely different use.
I read it about it in a third link that I didn't bother to post.

I got put in charge of the knot tying station at a cub scout event once. I had 30 minutes to learn how to tie a monkey fist so I could then teach the kids. I got really good at it after about 4 hours.

I just roll my rope in a ball. Would that be a monkey ball?
