Ok a question. My liberal (but due to my 7 years of training) turning more conservative, wifey type thing, has decided I can get a new gun. And at least another one later. Since the condition is I don't use budget money, I have to save up from my second job delivering pizza's. Since she told me I can get another, I have saved up about 600 bucks. I have 3 guns I'm looking at.
1st an H&K .45 tactical compact. $999
2nd AK47 $565
3rd Uzi semi auto. $599 + 200 tax stamp
What would you all choose and why.
I guess I have a second question too. Is owning a semi auto Uzi kinda like living with the prom queen, but can't kiss her? Meaning your just so close, but still far away.
 Thanks

I would buy the Ak.
buying a semi UZI is like kissing your sister. [dead]
H&K great gun but the AK would be a lot more fun and less expensive to shoot.
just my .02

+1 here, semi Uzi’s are boring. The AK will definitely be the most fun.

We need more info to spend your money.
What do you have now?
what do you want to do? (plink, 3gun, target shooting, home defense?)
then, we can spend your money. :P

People get that much for an AK now?
People get that much for an AK now?
People get that much for good AKs. I paid $550 for mine  . I definately think it was worth it, though. I would most definately get the AK.

I paid $550 for my yugo underfolder as well.
If you haven't decided by the next shoot, you are more than welcome to shoot my USPc 45 with threaded Jarvis barrel. Which is almost identical to the USPc 45 counter terrorism that just came out.

what do you have now?
All I have now is a S&W 9mm. No rifles and when I actually get around to getting a carry permit, it's much bigger then I'd want. I took a handgun safety coarse to get my permit years ago when Sheriff Anderson was giving them out freely. I even went to the Sheriff's dept. and got the paperwork. Just never finished up. But it will probably be awhile since I want to take a coarse again with my kids and wifey. So even though the HK is awesome, I think I'd like a fun plinker.
I was leaning towards the AK, but I figured it would be intersting to see what you guys would do too. I love the look of the Uzi but figured it would be like having a super model wife, but not even viagra would let you play with her.
Oh and Specialty Sports has 3 types of Ak's. The underfolder is $565. The side folder is 4something, and the fixed stock was 3something. I liked the underfolder, so that's what price I wrote down. They also had a ton of nice AR15's but the one's I liked would take me longer to save up for.
They also had a 7,000 dollar 50 cal that was HUGE. It had a magazine and bipod.
Thanks for the posts!
ok.
I vote for the AK then. Lots more stuff to be had for one, and ammo (if you can find it) is cheaper :)

me too, given those parameters, I'd vote AK
I warn you though, I tried the folding stock AK and it SUCKED. Maybe i'm a big wuss, but it was terrible. Looks cooler, hell to shoot though. YOu might think about a regular wood stock.
I also really can't believe $565 for an AK.
eeehhhh
Something wrong with that.
I'm gonna side with the AK crowd too. Especially because you don't have a evil assault rifle yet and it's always fun! They're super easy and cheap to modify even a little at a time. I've got about $500 into mine right now and I got the gun itself for about $250 or so.. I'm only adding about another $75 to it and calling it done. You'll be amazed at the amount of "upgrades and add-ons" you can get for them!
It sounds like that shop you're going to is a little overpriced. Do yourself a favor and do some research on AKs before you go blowing $500 on an overpriced low quality one. There's a differance between a $300 WASR-10 and a $600 Arsenal with a milled receiver. Also, make sure you know what kind of ammo it shoots. I've seen a lot of people with AK-74 clones in stock. They look the same as a regular AK but they shoot 5.45x39 which is a LOT more rare and expensive than 7.62x39.
5280 Armory has pretty good prices on their AKs right now. I think their underfolders are $520. They also have WASR-10 side folders for a little over $400 and WASR-10s with fixed stocks for around $400. If you don't mind doing an FFL dealer transfer you can pick them up cheaper on line. It's a pain in the butt, though, and you usually don't end up saving enough to make it worth the hassle.

Ummmm, UZI. :P
Oh, and there's no $200.00 tax on a semi anything unless you are talking about one of those SBR thingies. Karl theunbiasedone Mann.

Well I would get the AK.
But damn $500 I should have stocked up when you could get them 200. I mean really it is only an AK....

See I thought 565 was a good price for the AK. That's the very cool thging about this board. People know stuff and teach it. I did look online at gunbroker and saw different types of AK's, most right around 550. I'll look into quality of them too.
Karl, the one I liked on Vector's website was an SBR. It has a folding stock. I guess that's why that one needs the tax stamp. It sure is nice.
Thanks for the comments guys.

Or you could come to one on the build parties build three stock AKs and have $120 left over for mags and ammo...just a thought [postal] .
My kit just got here last Monday. It was $180 shipped to my door with more US parts than necessary and no FFL or paperwork to deal with. I can't wait for the build party  .
Here are a few places to check out for cheap AKs.
This place (http://classicarms.us/) has Yugo underfolders (I'm sure it's the same one you were looking at for $565) for $440. They also have WASR-2 rifles (shoots 5.45x39) for $299.95. If you want to get in on a build party they have Romanian kits with US trigger sets that range from $100 to $130. Just get a receiver flat and a US pistol grip or a US muzzle break and you'll be 922r compliant. It's one big webpage but they have a LOT of deals. It's definately worth it to scroll down and check out everything. I've never dealt with them personally but other people have recommended them to me.
www.aimsurplus.com also has some cheap AKs.
If you want something that's higher quality go look at www.atlanticfirearms.com. They've got a lot of Vectors, Armory USAs and Arsenals (some of the best names in the AK business) for reasonable prices.
If you don't want to deal with an FFL transfer (which you'll have to do to get a firearm through the mail) you can also check out 5280 Armory in Arvada or Jensen's Firearms in Loveland. They're both great shops with good prices on their AKs.
