It's not like anyone with common sense and the brains to form complete sentences didn't know this, but this explains it the way our Government should have if they didn't have other agendas.
"We in the gun industry knew from day one the allegations that the preponderance of sales came from gun stores like this one was totally not true," Kartchner said.

I really love that people believe that our local gun stores sold those automatic weapons and grenades.
Of course they came from the US...stupid diplomats such as Obama sold them

I do believe the ATF had a hand in selling thousands of guns to drug cartels and they even admitted it. I am just not sure why this is not big news. If Bush administration had got caught doing this it would be front page news for years.

It just shows the fundamental dishonesty of the anti's. They'll show tables piled high with military ordnance we cannot buy and talk about US gun stores. I sometimes see a mild amount of truthiness in the releases like "90% of the guns numbers sent for tracing to ATF were bought at..." In other words some small minority of gun stats were sent to the US when the gun is probably from there, especially handguns. Why the heck would they want a semi-auto AK when the real ones are probably cheaper there?
The vast majority of the heavy stuff comes from places in the article or drug cartels like the Mexican Army and their national police. Mexico is one country where the police are definitely not your friend.
There's one source of high power stuff that they also don't like to mention - the US military. Since they've relaxed some of the rules for enlisting some less than patriotic types, like gang members have joined. I'm sure a GI can make some big bucks by making a car load of weapons disappear.

All though this has been proven a couple times by a few guys getting busted for trying to cross the border. My guess is that this is less than a single percent of the total amount of weapons found in the cartel's possession.
Our government has made multi million dollar deals with both Mexican law enforcement and military. When a Mexican Police officer makes about $500 a month its real easy to turn them to the other side taking their firearms with them for a little more money.
Something like this...

It's simple economics, the cartels can and do pay a shitload more than the police. This unfortunately outweighs any amount of people who want to be real, upstanding police and army members down there at this time.
Edit: Oh yeah and having your family threatened to be beheaded is always a pretty good selling point too
This is the last straw! It's time to ban guns altogether in the United States. Just look at what our WIDE OPEN gun policies are doing to the world. The black market does not supply guns, the "legal" market does and by banning guns we would end all violence not just on this continent but as is obvious by these Mexican Cartels, worldwide too.
That's my preemptive quote from the lefties....
