They were selling them in Texas when I was there.

Actually, they sell them here. The Wal-Mart in Castle Rock has a gun counter, and I've bought there before.

The one near me added them about two months ago. Not a very interesting selection, lots of .22, a few centerfire bolt guns. A hot pink .22 too.

Walmart used to sell guns more widely along with ammo iirc. Then after columbine and fat fuck michael more they cut that down to just a few stores. So apparently it's died down enough it's making a comeback. That said I doubt they would every carry much of anything worth getting. Some low end shotguns/hunting rifles, some .22's, and maybe some 700's at the top end is the most I'd expect them to carry.

It wasn't until about 10 years ago that Walmart carried firearms in all their stores where it was legal. It was primarily market considerations at first that led to them stopping sales in certain stores due to lack of demand. Most rural Walmarts still sell a pretty good variety of standard sporting guns and you can still order from the manufacturer's catalogs at the sporting department desk.

I ordered and purchased this Savage .308 112 rifle in the foreground from them here in Littleton in 1997 for $345.00. At the time that was about $150.00 cheaper than I could find it anywhere else.

I agree that their general selection and prices weren't interesting. OTOH,, they do have sales. Years ago I got a stainless 10/22 on some sort of sale and it was a good deal.

Still no signs of them getting ready to restock firearms and start selling them at the local WalMart Supercenter down here in beautiful Trinidad. Tomorrow I'll have to ask at the gun counter (if I can find anyone there [Rant1]) if they are aware of a future restocking..

Hard to beat their shotgun prices... I've purchased a couple mossbergs from Walmart over the years, and the prices are always pretty good

Right from the story:

Wal-Mart currently sells rifles, shotguns and ammunition in about 1,300 stores in the United States.
Those firearms will now be available at about half of Wal-Mart's 4,000 stores.
The retailer doesn't sell handguns in any of its stores, other than in Alaska.

Once again, Alaska beats Texas... [Coffee]

can prolly get a bear-protection hand cannon, like a 500 S&W magnum

You planning on moving to Trinidad on a temporary or permanent basis?? Maybe you are going to attend the Trinidad State Junior College gunsmith school? Just curious.

YUCK.

When I used to work at Dick's sporting goods I ordered our firearms from the manufacturers. When I was on the phone with the Remington guy I asked how they were underselling everyone else on guns. His response was that they were sent weapons with rejected barrels and sometimes even worse. When I inquired what a rejected barrel meant he said ones that had shown a likeliness to fail after being fed plenty of rounds, whatever that means. As to the "does wal-mart have guns specially made cheaper" question he said he hadn't heard of that.

I can only speak for myself, no thanks on wally guns.

You know, I have never tried for various reasons, but, I wonder if Walleyworld does FFL transfers?

I believe I could safely bet with odds of about 1,000,000 - 1 that they will have no part of FFL transfers for firearms that have not been sold by them. Probably because of their fear of liability issues and other important potential issues.

The smaltzmart in Parker used to sell guns. I bought a 7mm rem mag five or six years ago but then they stopped cold turkey. I think it depends on how many whine titted complaining sissy soccor mons bitch to the store... Although this one sell lots of ammo.....

The one in Aurora by the mall sells guns. They are going through a major remodeling and making it into a Super Walfart. They even added an ammunition display with the locked glass doors. They had it all under the counter before.

Walmart stopped selling handguns a few years ago, before that they had them in the display counters.

The North Longmont Wally World sells rifles and ammo. Generally has a decent ammo selection.

They currently have a pink .22 rifle that my daughter likes the look of:) At the moment she has to 'make do' with my M9. My son however prefers my AR but has a Rambo approach to shooting it i.e. lets see how fast I can go through a 30 round magazine. Cost's me a fortune when he come shooting.
