View Full Version : Point me to a good source for a parts kit
Thinking even more seriously about doing my first AK build soon. Can someone point me to a good source for reasonably priced parts kits? Thanks.

brycomwin had posted a few for sale here week or two ago.

I saw those but at the time I wasn't terribly sure how serious I was about wanting to build one so I didn't pay too much attention to his ad. I know he said he was posting them on gunbroker but they don't appear to be there. I may have to shoot him a message and see if he still has them.
Thanks!

apex sold out of their 115 dollar barrel-less romy kits yet again but they have polish underfolder kits with out barrels for 165 polish underfolders are nice and if you want a fixed stock rifle i know you could sell of the under folding assembly pretty easily and be able to get a romy fixed stock rear trunnion and what ever butt stock you fancy
If you are looking for a 74 kit..what a country still has a few left..they are right about 200 bucks..with no barrel..but they have new bulgarian barrels that are chrome lined on their website too..so for about 325 plus shipping you can have the parts you need sans reciever and rivets.
Just looked at What a country and they have romy g kits with original barrel attached for 339. Don't know if thats higher than you are looking for.

Aren't those polish kits milled?

Aren't those polish kits milled?
there the stamped kits

they were out of stock but they have a LOT more in :)
so you dont want milled?
Milled recievers are not cheap. They are a couple hundred $$$$ minimum. The stamped recievers are very cheap.

only if you want an ak that's heavier, more expensive, has less furniture options and retains heat longer.
Other wise an akm is far better, akm's when built with fully heat treated recievers have no ore flex than a milled ak47. the only advantage the ak47 has over the akm is the ak47's barrel profile is just slightly heavier maybe would take longer for groups to open up due to heat but the difference in barrel profile is minimal so i doubt it makes much of a difference.
