My kitchen counters are a dark colored granite. Hard to keep them looking clean. The rest of the house is various tan based pattern formicas. I'm kicking myself for not upgrading to under mount sinks and corean in the bathrooms.

I installed solid surface/integral bowls when I updated two baths a little. They look good enough for this old shack.


Corian(or any acrylic) with integral sinks is the ticket. Warm, soft feel. Two hours per year maintenance looks new forever.



My wife burned one a little with a hot curling iron. It's not real deep/bad, but what's the best way to fix it? I don't want to start attacking it with abrasive if there's something better.

Of course it's in the damn downstairs 1/2 bath that everyone else uses.

Turned out ok. May get shelf along the top if they can make up their minds. It is going to get painted, not sure why they want to paint it. The bench in the picture they gave me was weathered/barn wood rustic and this bench would look better and age better with stain rather than paint.

How did you attach the 2x4s to the 4x4s?

Pocket hole jig and 2 1/2" screws. Pocket holes into ends of 2x4 screwed to sides of 4x4.

Next time I will reset depth of pocket holes and use #10×3" screw.

When build reloading/work bench will use B grade oak or utility grade ash. Thing will be a tank.

So I've got about 1-2 weeks of online training, then just riding along with other people in my department for pretty much the rest of the summer. Plus I get to work from home now so no more driving through shit traffic every morning to the Tech Center! *Maybe.

I kind of did. I have to pay $150 a month for the car. That pays for all the insurance, maintenance, gas, etc. If I don't pay that, I'd have to claim the vehicle value on my taxes. So there is no question that it is a good deal, but realistically, it is money out of my pocket, and a raise is v what I really need. I worked out that I probably spend around $130 a month just getting to work, so this will likely balance out. Plus I can drive the vehicle whenever and wherever I want. Some guys even sell their personal vehicles

Barr Lake is doing a lot of stuff that you can attend for free or nominal fee aside from park entry fee...took a canoeing lesson there last summer or the year before. Found out today, and got contact info for our ranger...she said they're looking for folks to come in and get free firewood. They have a *massive" pile of wood/railroad ties/slash free for the taking...just load it up.

Bring your chainsaw and a couple of strong backs.

ETA...they'll wave the park entry fee if you're there to take firewood.

If it were just me that had a bad reaction, then OK so be it. no less than 4 of the group had terrible things happen. Here's how we described it.

Guy #2: "Ask the crew about the fart I dropped just prior to leaving. It cleared out an outdoors gun range. Yeah, that bad."
