It's been a while since I've done something irresponsible, so I built this last night. I guess I could go get some daytime pictures now.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/yzowRjpTBYo3Vl45Lf_6y7Ovf2axoMjacjVbRB3ly3If=w538-h955-no
A responsible adult would put a Walmart blue foam sleeping mat under that and call it good.
Here are some daytime pictures. The branch it's tied to is 19'3" from the ground. I put the ladder in the first crotch (center right), then climbed the rest of the way up. It was uncomfortable and I felt more stupid than cool being that high over the yard.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/aLxcotlVxvJ7ZuuVcmsdvRAmTsGn8Mx0s8SfzsVChBve=w538-h955-no
Knots are tied every 20". This is a 3/8" rope from Home Depot with a working load of 695lbs. There was a poly rope of the same size with a working load just over 1,000lbs. I probably should have gotten the poly rope but this one felt more "grippy" for climbing, and the kids don't weigh much.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/5HEHoBxrfDJO8kczAqvr_b61moKSe-5BIhJdKYhDP9c1=w1698-h955-no
The important part is the kid is loving it. It was the last thing she did last night, and the first thing this morning. I think I'll go to a tire place and beg off a used tire to hang instead of that branch.

I gotta say, I'm impressed by the local fireworks around here. (Anything that leaves the ground or explodes is illegal) It seems that nearly everyone has some fun artillery shells and the cops really don't care. Good view from my driveway.
how do you break a ladder by falling off of it?
I was standing on the top most platform and was leaning forward while holding the tire in front of me. The combined weight of me standing above regulation height, and me holding the tire, caused the ladder to tip over forward. I rode the top of the ladder down most of the way and just managed to hold my feet up at the last second to slide across the grass on the back. Meanwhile, the ladder hit the ground face first at top speed, and instead of the little aluminum arms folding up like normal, they just bent straight out to the sides as the ladder folded. So, it's not completely broken, it's just not really safe anymore. Good thing it is only a little one for indoors anyway.

Well, since you asked, I'm pretty beat up from that tire swing. Bruises and abrasions all over the place. Did you know that 3/4" butterfly drill bits don't like steel belted radials? At one point, I took a piece of steel belt to the eye and about f'ing blinded myself. I don't know how I blinked in time, but I have matching "pokes" in my upper and lower eyelids on my left eye. Between that and popping nails out of the concrete floor after pulling the carpet in my living room, I'm surprised I can still see at all. Not to mention that now I probably have mesothelioma.
Here are some of the pets, momentarily getting along.

Both our pumps are outside. The backyard will flood and let water into the house without them. In all reality, he doesn't get water into the house on that side, so I could have done nothing, but I've seen enough water losses that I'll try to prevent that if at all possible.

Reloading tonight was an f'ing disaster!
I had a bad feeling going into it. Sometimes everything works out and everything is consistent. Then there are nights like tonight where it takes me almost two hours to load 50 rounds due to messing with the scale and powder measure. I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to be how it is. Good thing I've got a new scale and new powder measure being delivered this week. Grumble grumble.

Having the same issues with some MG 124gr JHP's. For all the headaches i'm going to end up tossing them.
I'll take them from you. I just barely started trying to load my Xtreme 124 FP 9mm and found out I had to load them way shorter than round nose.

Good to see it's the same BS on both sides of the aisle. My favorite is when our clients go ask a friend of a friend's cousin who went to law school, and now do work for a non-profit if something is right. Dear god.. just like a doctor specializing so do attorneys. You don't want divorce advice from an ambulance chaser, just as you don't want advice on 'bad faith' from a DA..
When I was on the auto side you would definitely get an attorney making insane demands, and you go to look them up to find out they are a divorce attorney.

People don't seem to understand that your coverage dictates what happens. If you have a min policy you're fucked in a serious accident.. Heaven forbid you don't have uim/um on your own policy
Sent by a free-range electronic weasel, with no sense of personal space.

How could you hate snakes? Just look at that cute face!

Yep it's friday, and I am sick of dealing with flooding issues. Had a local ranch call me saying they had a dam on their property that was overfilling and in danger of breaching. I went out to look, no my friends, your dam has already breached. You see that giant hole where the spillway was. That's called a breach. Kinda, sorta... but not really. Insurance paperwork has nothing on this. County, State engineers (Dam Safety and Interstate Stream), NMDHSEM, FEMA, Gov Office, etc. Not to mention their engineers, crews, etc.

Ouch. That hit me right in the feels. :(
At Cherry Creek Mall. Heard a loud thud and saw an 80yr old man with his feet pointed in the wrong direction on an escalator. Stopped escalator and and isolated his neck movement. Large laceration on his temple. Another guy who helped happened to be a firefighter which was nice. What sucks was that there was aprx. 30 other bystanders who did nothing but look. I had to yell "call 911" then their asses started moving. WTF people?

Had that happen at work in the late 80's. Guy pulls up on his mc, drops the kickstand then keels over, off the bike on to his head. Clearly a seizure, i'm trying to get a stick in his mouth while 1/2 doz people incl co-workers are standing there. Someone call 911 as they're watching. Once i got the stick in his mouth i ended up calling them. This is why there's 10-20-30 people standing there now a days taking videos of someone being stabbed or sexually assaulted instead of jumping in.

That is so 1950's.........
when someone is seizing, never try to put anything in their mouth.
You could do more damage to them or you could cause choke on the fingers you lose when they bite them off.
Take a "First Aid/CPR class if you don't believe me........

Back in 2005 while digging through my scrap wood pile we found a very large one(almost 6" across stretched out). Wanted to save it for the minions so didn't even think about what I was doing when I reached down and grabbed it before it could run under another board. When I rolled my hand over and opened it, I learned an interesting fact about Wolf spiders. The hatched young will "ride" on the mother while growing/developing. When mother is "threatened" the tiny spiders scatter like an explosion. Like millions of them. Talk about surprised, I was instantly covered in tiny spiders from my hand to my elbow. A perfect 13 yr old girly style screech and spider panic dance followed.[panic][facepalm][gohome]
Worked perfect for the spider cause I dropped that bitch instantly. Son and son in law found it to be educational and hysterically funny. They had never seen dad to the spider panic dance before.

Mrs. HoneyBadger saw that picture as she walked by the computer and she started hyperventilating. I had to sit her down and get her a paper bag - no joke. I don't like spiders, but she takes it to a whole new level.
Tell her she keeps breathing so hard, she could inhale a spider. Also, that spider could handily win an ugly sweater party.

Nothing like the frige taking a shit. Hopefully our local hvac can fix it.
my beer fridge in the garage is on the fritz. In the winter, it didn't want to freeze anything. I was hoping it was low on coolant, or the condenser was just freezing up. It would work, then stop and I'd have to turn the fridge/freezer temp off then back to the setting I needed and it would kick on. Very odd. But around March/April it started working without hiccups, but it hasn't been below freezing since then either.

Just got weird? Brother, this thread was weird when it started.
HB: On the way home tonight, it started raining heavily before I got out the North Gate. Westbound Hwy 94 was backed up to Garbage Hill & NO eastbound traffic was coming at all. I was luckily under the huge power lines in the "bottoms" - west of the salvage places when I caught up to stopped traffic. Figured it was a wreck. Finally, westbound started moving slowly & when I got to the bridge/creek just east of Space Village Road, where those Airmen died a year or two ago, there was a 2 vehicle wreck (front end of SUV obliterated, drivers door of car badly bashed with a towel thrown over the drivers window; my guess is a fatality). That is a dangerous section of road when it's wet/snowy/icey. I'm sure you're glad you don't have to deal with 94 anymore.
