Well, how'd it go?

I asked one of my buddies. He said "been there done that".
I still do not have experience at 40mph+ :(

It would be been a great video footage if I shot yesterday.
(Minus the sound of the wind on a microphone).

He's probably still trying to find his way back to where he got blown away from.

I kind of have stuff to do tomorrow- mow, get the sprinklers turned on and dialed in, spray weeds, etc. Probably a half days worth of stuff to do.

If we can go early and I can get home mid day that would be great.

Let me know.

Early is good for me too. I have 3 stands similar to yours and redneck IDPA targets.

My drive is only 20-25 mins so 0700 is not too early for me. You guys have travel time.

ray1970
05-21-2020, 16:22
I?m an early riser. Let me clear it with my wife and I?ll let you know for sure.

I have six of those metal stands and a pile of wooden sticks. Getting a little low on targets but I bet I can scrounge up ten or twenty IPSC ones. (Sorry, no IDPA). I have pasters so we can extend their useable life.

think i'll see how many other people are at the health club, this morning. Since everything has opened up, might as well get back in to a normal routine.Did that yesterday, felt really good. I've managed to keep running and riding bike, but it felt good to lift some weight, in fact I think the 2 month break actually increased my performance.

I think somebody filed all the front sights off, I couldn't find em for shit.

I've noticed my sights are getting smaller as well. Must be shrinking because of the cleaning solvent or something. They used to be much easier to see.

Unable to turn off the IR LED's on my Uniden video doorbell (I feed the vid to Blue Iris), and unwilling to hack into it and kill the LED's, I just pasted a vinyl cutout I made on the wife's Cricut over the IR LED surround that encircles the camera lens. With a porch light, it's not necessary. Alas, the heat still draws in the critters, mostly spiders to catch flying insects attracted to the heat or perhaps there's still some IR bleed. I'll try to keep a little peppermint oil around it to deter this summer but it's a losing battle.

one year we had barn spiders all over the porch covers. They're some very large spiders, when they're stretched out. The up side was.
Moths and mosquitos were too scared to come close to the lights.

Haha, gotta be smarter than the swallows.

Damn birds cannot resist a miller moth.

This years migration of miller moths obviously did not get side tracked or wiped out by storm and my LED conversion in the shop seems to attract them even more than the fluorescent's did. Last couple evenings I have worked in shop with big door open at dusk. As soon as the moths start flying around the lights two swallows dart in and start chasing them. I chase them around the shop for a couple minutes with painters extension pole shooing them to the door. After I decide it's not fun anymore I sipped my beer for couple minutes, walked over and turned out the lights, birds immediately flew out the door into the dusk.

Tonite I didn't chase them, I just turned out the lights, they flew out, I closed the door and turned the lights back on and kept working.

Approx 2004 I was sitting at the stop light top of ramp off of I76 waiting to turn south on hwy 2. I was second in line to two guys in a std cab Ford pickup. It was about 0545 and they driver in pickup rolled down his window to throw out his cig butt and one of the swallows dive bombing the moths flying around the traffic signal lights flew into the cab. It was hilarious, serious assholes and elbows for a few seconds til those guys could bail out of the cab. The bird flew out and we all had to sit through another cycle of the light laughing our azzes off.[ROFL3]

Scene #2: Pouring the delicious kibbles into the bowl.

Music #2: Same song, riff starting at :57 or begins again at 1:50.

Scene #3: Dog on the other side of the house sleeping in kennel.....raises head, twerks ears, and begins running through the house to the bowl. (Running but shown in slow-mo)

Scene #4: Happy dog eating kibbles and wagging tail super satisfied.

Outside of sitting down at a restaurant. Nothing down here changed. Restaurants opened a week ago for sit down meals. Outside of less tables, not much changed. 3 different places to eat, none of them wearing gloves, or mask. Ahhh just like old times.

An update on the whole "Arbery" trainwreck....

https://www.yahoo.com/news/investigators-one-man-shot-ahmaud-152915400.html

We knew they were prosecuting the two guys in the pickup truck, now they're also charging the guy that filmed the cell phone video that made all the MSM rounds with murder now [facepalm]

I can't imagine any possible way that meets the burdens for charging murder, even by association e.g. conspiracy normally requires a "meeting of minds".
But, he's gotta go through the new court-of-public-opinion now.

Ironic, being if it wasn't for his video, the two guys never would've been charged... and he was reportedly cooperating with authorities through the process.

Possibly a great example of why it is important to exercise your 5th amendment right to silence even where you're not a participant?

Possibly a great example of why it is important to exercise your 5th amendment right to silence even where you're not a participant?

Very bad move by prosecutor.

The factory regular sights are about the only thing I wish they would upgrade at this point. Their factory night sights are decent.Yeah the factory night sights are about the best deal to be had for Glock sights, still debating them or some of the fancier Ameriglo or Trijicon offerings, this is shaping up to be my "forever" carry pistol as Glock nailed perfection (for me) in this one.

I ended putting Trijicon low-profile night sights on my G36. Like them a lot better than the factory sights.

I tried to find the specific sights on Trijicons website, but they apparently don't make them anymore.

It is. Thanks!

They were able to close it & cut (ba bum tss) a couple months off the repair process. I woke up from the last surgery wholly surprised as this was not expected. Told the plastic surgeon beforehand that I honestly didn't care about pretty, didn't have it in me to sit still for another 3-4 months before being able to start rehab & really was just hoping/needed it to work again. He listened. Im thrilled he didn't minimize my needs & found a way. Given the circumstances from which this begun, the results both in function & aesthetics are expected to be fantastic & I couldn't be more grateful. Doubt it'll even show much or leave me wanting for mobility when all is said & done though, it'll take time to get there. Trite as it may sound, truly the best part is that I have more time now.
Yay

Im very ready to move forward.

I know riiight?!

If you don't like graphic, skip this next part, or not...

As I understand it, he peeled the skin off part of my leg like a sausage casing & then slid it up & over like a knee sock trimming the excess where necessary. Reattached the underside of the dermis to the muscle with sutures as they went along finally stretching it over the softball sized void & closed the seams with staples. Surgeon is a wizard if Ive ever met one. Very tight in a couple areas but that should remedy with time they said. Some nerve damage too but again, it should resolve for the most part. Plastics doubts they will want another go of it unless there's an area that just wont stay closed or proves to hinder. Bonus is that it looks nice enough & with no negative pressure vac. & no skin graft necessary I'm now several months ahead of schedule. Yay.

I am not on a pt schedule yet, no. They don't want me doing much of anything until they remove the staples & the sutures dissolve, so another couple weeks. Also, seems it's 3 months until the incision is considered 50% healed. Dont want to pop the seams. I still have more with oncology too.

Really only have one complaint about the multiple medical/hospital/surgery experiences. Simply, I wish I could have a private little chat with the last anesthesiologist because I wasn't out like he initially thought. I told him beforehand (it always happens) that I wake up during - but he apparently didn't listen. I managed to make it known I wasn't out-out while I was in the OR... that kind of sucked, again.

Damn. How'd I miss that you were having your next procedure?

That actually looks really good. They were able to close without having to do a graft?

ETA: Now I'm caught up and you covered that. Shoot, with some more healing the skin should relax over time and I'm tickled the surgeon was able to make it happen for ya!

ETA Further: Hope your healing goes as well as the surgery seems to have. Positive mindset has a great deal to do with a good outcome in my experience. The prospect of getting going sooner than expected, without having the graft site needing to heal as well, should help.

I think the down-side will be wanting to get back at it sooner than maybe you should. I seem to recall you getting bored. [Coffee]

Yes. I keep pushing a bit more than I probably should.

Separately, I sorted another (approximately) 8k of brass today. Easier when you only shoot about 4 different head stamps. Few random ones always seem to make it in though when other folks collect brass during competition. I ended up with 48 pmc that I never shot for example. Also, 35 frontier 223, & few hundred -ish other misc.

This is a new experience - sorting brass, so please pardon my naivete. I had to text a couple people to find out if year stamps mattered, or certain crimp variations, etc.

I think laps 1 to 5 is a great example of practice or test runs. Aggressive and not aggressive runs to see time. Lap 5 looks like you wanted to see the track condition?

The Mazda steering (at least when I was driving yrs back then) was very fine and sensitive. I think it is very power assisted than vehicles like BMW.

I have about a bucket full of unwanted brass from competitions too. I imagine that's going to go much much slower & have just about everything in it from what I saw when I browsed the top. Going to look over each piece more closely to see if its cracked or damaged as I don't have any idea if any were reloaded. All my brass is first fired.

Yeah Lap 5 was a hot mess. I think I was just exhausted by that point in the day, and wasn't driving very well.

I don't left foot brake, I'm not very good at finer movement with my left foot, it's something I really should work on. Hopefully when things start to open up more and there are track days again, I can get some practice in doing that...

Good morning folks.

So I have a lot of cbc, lc nato, federal, men & maybe 2k imi. All 556 first fired brass. I made a mixed brass box with all the other headstamps. Have a small collection of 223 that ive also separated out, federal & mixed. About 22k worth in total, give or take as I didn't count each piece but I know how much Ive bought & shot. I'm going by estimates by the bucket too which vary by quite a large margin. Still sorting more of mine & have a bucket of range brass also.

So should I sell it, save it or what? I really don't have an interest in reloading but if I did...

Trying to declutter & wouldnt mind a little extra cash. I have a 84 cz75 Id like to finish & precision bobbles I'd like to acquire & this might help to those ends, yes? Thoughts?

I mostly just get invites from a lot of headhunters and marketing people I don't know.

Sometimes it's dumbshit stuff. Like a warehouse worker at a national food distributor that's an (IT) client I'm linked to... or similar stuff.

There's maybe a few influencers I see on the off chance I check it maybe once a month or if I get a request from someone I want to link.

I never cross the streams. LinkedIn is work. FB is close friends and family only and locked down.

I've made like 2 exceptions. One guy I can absolutely trust both professionally and personally, and one ex customer that retired asked to friend me and I caved. That second one was a big mistake. Turns out she's a flaming leftists but we pretty much never talk politics at work and nothing of the sort came up when she was a customer. she now pulls a TDS on just about any MEME or joke or comment I post, even apolitical ones. I'm taking the high road and mostly ignoring it and hoping she'll just go away.

Actually i lost vision in the left eye 36ish years ago in a fireworks incident. I'm still pissed that party broke up after it happened.

Did wear an eye patch for a few years, as everything looked like a kaleidoscope. Till i had an artificial lens installed.
So the right eye will give me a pair of fixed distance artificial lenses . Along with an AKA prosthetic. The doc laughed saying . The left was an accident, the right is just old age catching up.

Honestly nice models like that scare me. Hours of work and one mistake and you have scrap.
I have a 2m Amigo glider that I bought in early 80s that my pops and me put together last year. Yep 30 years later. I am afraid to go fly it. Old school balsa stick construction, very nice plane, just scared to fly it. I am not a great pilot so that?s probably part of it but still.

I did find a mini super cub with 27mhz transmitter in the basement. Will get a battery today and go crash it, I mean fly it later today

Oh I hear you brudda. I started in this stuff when i was about 8 with my grandfather and after he passed I had about 45 planes, I've since decommissioned most due to glow fuel soaked into the balsa. Gliders takes a real pilot where as the powered stuff I think is a little easier. If you do ever fly it and need some balsa or parts hit me up. That bipe is about 7 years old and I've done 90% (about 140hrs of work / design and planning) of the building last winter. Still have a topflite p51 gold and 2 sig kadets in kits to build as well. I figured on a spring maiden flight but just got burned out so its up in the rafters of the garage now.

Seriously anyone wanting to get into RC planes hit me up first i have so much stuff that i doubt ill ever use. As sad as it is I'm actually thinking about culling most of my stuff and just doing quads.

For crashed planes that can't be fixed I just keep whatever electronics. Motors or hardware I can. I have jewel cases full of nuts, bolts, servo arms, control horns etc. You can always use that stuff later on with other airframes.

The only way to build the skills as a pilot is to fly. You fly RC you're going to crash at some point the biggest thing is learning from your mistakes and to also how too crash "lightly".

If your interested these deltas are easy as hell to build and fly really well. The material cost is about $6 for the foam insulation board and again if you need electronics hit me up.

So, my wife watches a lot of those crime type shows and it seems like sometimes the victims help the police draw a sketch of the perpetrator. When they finally apprehend the guy he does bear an uncanny resemblance to the sketch.

If I helped the police draw a picture they?d have to be in the lookout for Mr. Potato Head I guess because I wouldn?t begin to know how to describe someone?s facial features so that somebody could actually draw a decent likeness.

I hear ya. If they had some kind of software so I could put together what I remember seeing, that sounds doable. Me trying to explain in words what I saw? Yeah, this won't end well and I'd probably make some sketch artist cry in the process.

Well that was sort of fun. The mini super cub hit the air and the dirt a few times. Old batteries still worked which surprised me. Lost the landing gear on crash 2. Then the receiver or transmitter acted up and I kept loosing control for a second or two. I remember that this plane was a warranty replacement to the original that did the same thing.
Well time to gut the plane and convert it to real rc parts.

Shit id let you fly a delta np. My next one is going FPV for that "cockpit" feel. The bi plane.....not so much. 140 hrs on the build and about close to $800 on the all in cost youd see me just holding breath the entire time.
There is always a buddy box system (2 controllers) that we used to use when training new pilots out at the club (when i was in clubs).

This time was the end of a redneck family tradition. My brother and cousins only observed it occassionaly and sons and nephews dont want to run the tail anyway. Since my dad and uncle's have passed on I let it go as well, until I retire, then it's full blown Sasquatch.

Neighbor got a new swamp cooler. Of course he had to get the biggest one they sold. He's 450-500 lbs, and the other guy is getting old. They were talking about taking the thing apart to get it up on the roof, and how it took 4 guys at Lowes just to load it, and four of the neighbors across the street to get it out of the truck and into the driveway. I told them I had an idea and made them guide it up while I pulled from the roof. Saved a lot of time, but I was out of breath for what felt like 5 whole minutes. Glad I did all those push-ups and pull-ups last month! :p I told them that I'll do all kinds of stuff, but am slowly building a list of things I don't ever want to do again.

Rattle snake is good, similar to alligator but still unique.

Back in good old days the carpenter who ran our window shop was a rattlesnake hunter. He and his wife hunted the snakes, harvested the skins and rattles for sale as souvenirs. They also contracted with city animal control, BLM, DOW(fuk CPW, back in the day, DOW was only decent gov agency in the state, now they all suck even worse).

They always brought rattle snake to company picnics and functions. The stories they told about hunting the snakes by hand were great. At one summer picnic on Black mtn they caught a rattle snake that had wandered into the campgrounds we were using. It was added to the grill with the other meat they had brought and the burgers and dogs.

Not a fan of snakes but will usually leave them alone.

Poisonous snakes in people areas get kilt. Non-Poisonous get relocated.

New rule enacted recently by Mrs bo, any snake she sees gits kilt.

Of course she makes me kilt it.

I was hiking to a pretty high lake to fish with some buddies and a snake was in the trail and started to slither away. My friend says "grab it!" I looked at him like he was crazy, which he kind of is. Turned out to be a garter snake. I was surprised to see snake that high thou. Over 8k feet in the Flat Tops. First time.

What do you know about snakes then? Probably never even seen one.

My family has been in the US for several generations. Seen snakes, caught snakes, had a snake as a pet briefly, and have killed snakes. It's not the snake I have a problem with.

How do you keep the kilt on the snake?

not sure but you use a good adhesive to keep their tinted contacts on. They make the perfect sunglasses .

The only snake I've ever seen above 8000 ft. in CO has been a Western Garter Snake. Way back, Grandma would encounter a snake behind the cabin and Grandpa would kill it with a shovel. Always a Garter Snake.

I don't kill snakes. Not here in Colorado. I've caught and moved rattlesnakes before and might relocate a rattlesnake that was near the house but have never needed to.

Snakes eat mice. I like snakes.

Listened to a really interesting podcast with a snake biologist the other day. He was saying that in most of the US, for every squirrel you see, there are 20 snakes that you don't see.

They're all under my back patio. Much to her dismay, the wife seems to find them all.

Over the years, we've had a few more than she cared to find slither into the house.

I think I've seen only a single snake at our place in the seven years we've lived here. I need way more snakes in my life.

If you like rattlesnakes, my neighbor bought a house in a new development out Titan Rd. from 85 by Chatfield that had a very large population of 'em.

When I was 10 or so & helping my dad remodel, I found a flat, petrified garter snake under the carpet in the basement. When I held it up, it was a perfect 'S' shape.

We typically just found live ones & never figured out how they'd get in. It wasn't me but it was always my job to relocate them as my dad doesn't like snakes.

Side note, my mom would flip out about spiders. Couple times a year I'd say: hold still & I'll get the spider off you... & then watch her start to dance about while swatting & screaming. So funny.

We've been in the land of snakes, scorpions, and lizards for 3 months now, and the only thing we've seen are lizards. Oh, and some big ass spiders (like baseball sized).https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200606/e21c11998783d414c0d7dd8ee4bf66b2.jpg

My wife can't stand spiders of any size. She has an understanding that spiders are fine as long as they keep their distance and she can't see them.

We had both of our desktop computers in the home office in the basement and we were doing some gaming together. I hear her announce that there's a spider on the wall near her. I tell her I'll be right there and then I hear this *SMASH*. I'm like, "What the hell was that?!". She couldn't wait a second longer and tried to smash the spider with her keyboard.

I just came from shooting range.

I had to zero 3 scoped rifles and 2 were way off.
Took hour at a 50yd range just to get on a paper and went to 100 to zero.

I was extremely impressed with pencil barrel Savage 110fcp 243winmag that I purchased from forum member. The cheapo fudd bushnell 3-9x scope was so horrible. Looking at 100yd with it was like looking at 800 yard with precision scope.

My daughter refused to shoot her 10/22 I zeroed for her.
Maybe next time she will feel comfortable shooting.

Lastly the psa pa10 gen3 20" was another surprise. It was shooting as accurate as non (to very little) customized 700P.

One more.....
SIG P210 new would not lock the slide after the end of round fired. I initially thought it was a weak mag springs.
I was starting to think of contacting sig or buy a woff mag spring (if they have one for p210 mags).

Later I thought it was mag release being stiff and oiled the heck out of the mag release lever. Works perfectly after.
P210 loves oil.....

I shot the BBTR today & managed to make it through for all five stages! Set up early & broken down late & synced nooks after for match scores per usual too.

I was super slow, really out of practice & scored pretty far down the list because of it. Mostly 'A' zones so that didn't change much. Im thrilled regardless because I shot my first post surgery match & tested my current limitations.

Don't snitch on me to my doctors because I wasn't supposed to yet, not even close to yet. Giggle

Nicest day I've had in a long while ... nothing irreparable but I'm already paying for it & tomorrow is going to hurt even worse.

Don't care. Made me happy. Worth it.

These are the days that try a fathers patience.

I have a flat is totally different then I ran over something and lost tire pressure. Kid fails to communicate. Two trips to Golden. Run flats and no spare in the TT. Luckily the spare from the other German fit.
Now to either find a rim fixer or order a new one if it?s within 10% to get a new rim. ?Sorry man my supplier is closed, I will get back to you on Monday ?.
Excuse me. Time to find some libations...,,

No generator? Or even an inverter that you can run off your car for a few hours now and then.

Looks like a pretty good storm came through yesterday while I was gone. I saw very large branches broken off a lot of the old Elms and Silver Maples laying on the streets in Denver on my way home. Power was out until a few blocks from my house but I didn't realize it went that far east. Glad your new freezer kept until the power came back.

Hey, that's great! Life almost back to normal with some well earned fun.

We returned to the cabin last evening. I had hoped to do some shooting while in Mesa County but had too much to do. Maybe this week now that the Boulder Sheriff transitioned from a stage 1 to stage 2 fire order, so I can shoot in the national forest.

I'm shopping only in Mesa where Covid-19 hasn't hit, yet. Brought back 185 lbs. of sugar which might last a month....

Man what a pisser, ran out of shielding gas right in the middle of a welding job.

That is the original bottle I put on the machine when I bought it, several years ago. Took me couple minutes to figure out what the deal was. Been a long time since ran out of gas.
