View Full Version : Stealth Helicopter?
Whats up with that stealth black hawk helicopter that the seals used to get in and tag Bin Laden? How cool is that?
It's cool as hell, that's how cool it is.
Not that cool since the pakastanis have what's left then maybe to China
I'd tell you how cool it was, but I don't think you'd receive my signal.
I have seen pics of kids taking pieces of the fuselage.....crazy!

The overall shape reminds me of the Commanche, but without the Fenestron tail rotor. But still seriously cool! I hope they did a fantastic job of blowing the fuselage up...
General consensus is a stealth variant Blackhawk.

This is the same looking stealth UH60 that was cancelled in 2004, no?

c'mon folks; it's Airwolf, flown by Stringfellow Hawke.
Project in 2004 cancelled was commanche, which was more like a stealth cobra. (Narrow profile, stealthy of course, chin cannon, and small weapon pods that I believe were fold out from the body.)
The talk of UH60/blackhawk is that they took some of the things they learned from the commanche and applied it to a modified blackhawk. Shame they canceled the commanche as it was apparently succesfull meanwhile they continue to pour money into projects that are not working so well. (I'm looking at you VTOL Osprey, F-35, etc.)

Osprey fly off per frame is not bad at all - compare to some of the latest toys. It's a huge leap compare to the stallion/pavelow it's replacing. I remember folks always bitch about how slipery and oily stallions' rams are.
F-35 is a joke - it would be in the high 150-170mill per airframe before it goes into full production. F/A 22 all the sudden sounds so good now.

What does that mean in English? [Beer]
So obviously the guys on the ground used whatever they were issued to destroy the most sensitive bits, but why wasn't there a big bada boom coming from high altitude just after they left to finish off the rest of the airframe?
The Pakistanis were already going to be really pissed/embarrassed/bribed.

That's really weird why they didn't. Almost like we didn't care. I know collateral damage but with something of that nature almost seems like it would be worth it to really blow it up. Now we have the almost certain potential that it will end up in china.
Did anyone hear about how the Power went out before they came and turned back on after they left. That's really neat/scary.

Has there been anything about why the helicopter crashed? I mean, it seems like Blackhawks just love to crash, but what was the deal?
Could have either been the high altitude combined with a full load of personnel, but it could have also taken fire. A press conference with military commanders said they didn't say it was mechanical failure...
I bet we've got a lot cooler and more top secret stuff than that.
Here's a pretty long thread on this
