Bert of BPTactical. yeah this is not the vendors or feedback forum However.........
I called Bert inquiring to see if he had the tools to remove my 556 bbl. I have a lathe but the headstock is longer than the bbl to run through the spindle. Bert made some suggestions and we bounced some other options around. I went with plan B(ert) and used the steady rest running the bbl in to the chuck vs bbl through spindle. Made up some bushings and was able to turn down a section after the threads so i am now able to run my Halo on it. All without having to dick around with the receiver. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Once again THANKS BERT

So you got it figured out eh? Sounds nice. I couldn't quite picture it from how you described it to me in your excited haste ;) but I'm sure pictures will help things make sense.

When i called Bert he said since i had a lathe try doing X and after bouncing a few ideas back and forth, including using a cut bbl to make sure i did not stress any threads i went to work. While turning down a bbl is not a major task for the mechanically inclined, i was hampered by some physical issues, forcing me to sit down most of the time. So what normally may have been a 30 minute job became more.
Anyway i turned the shoulder area behind the threads down from 0.768 to 0.698 slightly under the dia. of a HB AR bbl.I ran it @ 280 rpm to keep any potential for the receiver and gas block from throwing the job off balance and removing a section of my elbow in the process. Only issue i found was the raw area would not take the cold bluing i applied, so i dug out the old reliable bomb can (Krylon) flat black cammo and ran a quick blast on it for now.
I know doing what i did is nothing for the experienced machinist, however being able to actually do something on the lathe in a long while for me was a step forward. I think the next project will be to profile an AK bbl blank, yeah that's it an AK bbl:)
Now i need to road test it suppressed.
