It will never stop. There will always be bad apples no matter what people try to do. It's the fatal human condition.

The article doesn't mention any disciplinary action taken either....

part of it is bad apples, part of it is the stress of the job, and part of it is just the sheer number of police officers out there. you mix those three things together and you are bound to have occurences. these types of things are often pretty publicized, so when you hear about these things happen across the country it seems like its happening all the time. but as an actual percentage of cases its very low. its kind of the same feeling people in other countries have about our troops. they here about abuse and stuff happening a few times and in their head they think every soldier must be a bad egg.

Obviously the old man didn't read page 2 of his senior citizen pamphlet given to him at age 65. It specifically states concealed canes are illegal and could result in police brutality up to and including death. I think it was nice of the officer to be so leniant.

OH EM GEE
I am so stressed when I go into work tonight I am taking out all of the ****** ATMS and wiping out the entire Mountain states SQL Database for every ********** Bank customer in the region!

BECAUSE I AM SO STRESSED!

Nope... not an excuse, do your fucking job, do it right or find yourself in prison like anyone else criminally negligent.

who said stress was an excuse? where was that stated? its simply one of the REASONS this kind of stuff happens. i will guarantee you if you gave pharmacists guns there would be shootings of customers every now and then. im not kidding. you take a job where people treat you like shit and yell at you, point guns at you (oh yes, as a pharmacist it does happen) and then arm those people and you are going to have moments where either they snap or they perceive a threat that isn't really there. it doesn't excuse them from criminal behavior but it partly explains it. i don't think a police officer woke up one morning and said "you know, id really love to beat an 84 year old man today".

No, but he did make the decision to abuse his position and trust and commit a crime that you or I would be prosecuted and imprisoned for...

He is still on the force.
and that makes me sick.

I agree. Especially considering the fact that the man was an elderly man. Whatever happened to respecting your elders? Sure, some people do stuff to lose that respect, but I would never dream about putting an elderly man in a frikkin arm bar and slamming his face into the ground. Let alone one that just did a citizen's arrest for me, held someone until I arrived, and then tried to explain the situation to me. Not ever.

[ROFL1] The 'reasons' don't matter why he/she did what they did. What about the reasons behind something like Columbine since you are making abstract comparisons about pharmacists. So the Columbine kids were 'bullied' and went on a killing spree. They did it, the cop did it. So who cares if you want to brand it as a reason or excuse, the foul was made 'for one reason or another'. Its called discipline, self restraint, maturity. I lost my house a few years ago, lost my job...I sure didn't use that reason to take someone out or come home and beat my wife.

Sorry, upon re read maybe I need to change the old brain to mouth filter. Sometimes I just type and dont think. I guess the pharmacist comment got me, made me lol actually. Didn't mean to foul.

WHAT A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT! It happens everyday, all the time. It goes unreported tens of thousand times more than it is reported because folks are scared and think their reports would fall on deaf ears without proof. Then they would face retaliation from the very LEO's they tried to turn in. That's the true story.
