Hello Karl and all.. It's been 22 months since I flew down from the Oregon coast where I live and attended that year's August ,2004 St Vrain's shoot with my brother Bob -AKA Glock- my nephew Matt and his wife Mindy. Really enjoyed the day out there 9even considering the interruptions by the state police who were answering complaint calls from somebody who lived out beyond the kill zone)..It was a Great Day In Fact and a cherished memory for me.
Bob had terminal cancer even then because of a local physician/surgeon's screw up and didn't do like Bob (who was Physician's Assistant) told to to do and remove the entire Colon to take no chances of the cancer remaining, but in this quack's 'Finite Wisdom' , he decided to only do a bowell resection and not follow Bob's instructions..Which, had he done, I wouldn't be writing this post not.
Bob has been living in Hell with pain can't is indescribable, culminating in a one week stay at St. Joe's Exempla in Denver last week and now is in a Hospice spending his final hours, days so drugged up that he is not really there anymore..just his physical body which is ruined by this Cancer (and the medical "professional" who killed him.
That's it.. I just wanted to let Karl, Doug and all who knew 'Glock' in here and 'Bob' at the shoots, that he is at the finish line, but this group witht he great people in it and all the enjoyment he derived from the comradeship and shooting added so MUCH to the last part of his life. Thanks Everybody..
Take care,
Doug ...Bob's younger brother

There are so many 'stickies' I almost missed this thread.

I had been wondering how Bob was doing. I've never met him, but have heard about him through redleg1one. He seems like a class act and it appears we're losing one of the good guys there are just not enough of in this world.

Bob and his family are in our prayers.

It was nice to meet a fellow linux geek (and from his bumper stickers he was even more hardcore than I am) and shooter last fall.

I've watched him slowly sell off his collection (and remember it being pretty impressive last year when I met him) one by one and could sense through that the feeling of deterioration.

Have fun up there Bob, here's hoping I can be half the OSS/firearm geek that you are.
