ive got a bunch of friends coming out in a month and they want to do some backpacking but have no gear. i have stuff for myself but was looking for a cheaper alternative for them that i could then keep and maybe find use for sometimes. anyways, i was considering surplus gear. anyone have any personal experience with the molle ii rifleman pack? id probably get the one that has the smaller main pack and the sleep system pack below it as opposed to the larger ruck. im wondering if its comfortable, feels fairly light (not actual weight as i know its heavy, but felt weight), etc. any help is appreciated, thanks!

Haven't used the pack, but the molle II FLC vests aren't too bad once you get them adjusted.

Overnight backpacking or just day hikes?

No experience with the MOLLE pack, but ALICE packs with frame are still going for less than $50 at Sportsman's Guide. MOLLE packs are still over $75 most places I've looked.
