I am pleased to be able to make the announcement that the Shootin' Den will be re-opening in Colorado Springs.
Some of you may recall that Shootin' Den closed it's doors a year and a half ago after it's original owner had passed away and the new owners decided to close the doors (they tried to sell the store but just couldn't get a buyer with the financing).
Well, Laura Cambron, one of the former employees (she'd been associated with this store and the original owner her whole life) has decided to re-open the store, hopefully in it's original location.
While a few things are still pending (Lauras is still waiting for her FFL to come through and locking in a lease on the storefront, etc.), the plan is to open the store for business somewhere around 30 - 60 days from now.
I've known Laura for 20+ years and can tell you she is a great person and has a passion for firearms that all of us can appreciate. She's really excited about this endeavor and I know she'll need our business and word-of-mouth referrals to help her get the place rolling and to stay in business.
I will update everyone as I get more information.

Well, it's official, the Shootin' Den is now open for business.
One of our members gave me a call from the store yesterday while making a purchase.
If you are in the Springs and get a chance, you check 'em out. They are @ 430 W. Fillmore St - in a strip mall between I-25 and Nevada Avenue (closer to I-25 than Nevada.
I think you'll all like Laura & Tracy (Tracy is an AR guy).

Isn't the original location of the Shootin Den a Medical Marijuana Dispensary now?
Frankly I'd love to see her open it a bit farther west (if nothing else to frighten the hippies).
EDIT This is what I get for not reading the entire thread before posting a response :p
I guess I'll have to stop in and buy something.

I know where I'm going at lunch... [Coffee]
thanks for the update!
If I get down to the springs I'll check it out, then meet up with Ginsue for a beer!

I went by this morning... technically not open yet, but it was good to see them again. They've moved over a little in the building. Looks really nice. I hear the entire strip is getting a facelift soon.

Now that sounds like a plan I'd enjoy!

Yeah, they are 2 doors down from their original location - with a "medical" marijuana store in between the two sites. Laura said Monday that she'd be open Thursday "ready or not", but when one of our members called me from her store yesterday after buying a gun from her she indicated that so many folks have been coming by to shop that she just couldn't turn them away.
Be sure to tell her Ginsue (or Thomas) sent you.

Thanks for the tip, I'll swing by next time I'm down in the Springs as well. Hope to see lots of the COAR stickers in that parking lot!

I spent a lot of time at Golden Arrow Archery located behind the Shooting Den in the 80s. i bought powder, bullets, and my first reloading setup at the Shooting Den in 1989.
