Just thought I would share educated opinion (hopefully), and see what you guys think. Been experimenting for quite a while with various stock/grip/foregrip combinations. My pal and I have for starters decided that "Light is right", and forego lots of stuff hanging from the gun. Here's what I have decided is the perfect stock set. For me, it's a Vltor stock with buttpad, Ergo pistol grip and MOE RVG grip. Pic posted soon showing my latest "build" by YHM.

In my mind there is not enough recoil that one would make one heavy (HP excepted). I always think it is funny how some of the Fal and M1 guys work to get them down from 9+lbs but many AR guys think nothing of hanging enough junk on one to make a 5.56 10lbs.

The lightest std config I can think of is the Izzy carbine. I have not weighed mine but it is lighter than my std A1.

Of course I do have what many have called the lightest Fal on the planet. I have one in 7.62X25 that with a std top cover (no scope) is 5.7 lbs.[Coffee] It is almost all aluminum and plastic.[Beer]

To us, light is a pretty standard M4 with the lower-cost MOE stock sets, or something in that area. Without a bunch of junk hanging off the front, but a nice tactical sling of your choice. Minimal optics, close range carbine that can be comfortably carried for a while.

Lite M&P build beginning of the project.... just another way to keep busy

Want to switch out to a light barrel, and looking at the Aimpoint micro T1 or maybe the Trijicon TA26S-10

Although I love my eotech with (8oz)

I wouldn't mind at all making mine 12lbs or so- of course that includes the addition of an M203- talk about adding some bulk there.
