For those of you who have not heard, CRCPS is now running a monthly USPSA pistol match at Colorado Rifle Club. June 11 is a Super-Classifier preceeded on June 10th by a new shooters clinic and a Classifier skills class both taught by Ron Avery. 2nd Saturdays.

We also have USPSA Multi-Gun using Time-Plus scoring. We plan to have 4 this year, 1st Saturday, July 2, Sept 2, Oct 1. July 2 we will go out to 500 yards on a Rifle/Shotgun stage and 3 other stages.

We will be adding Steel Challenge shortly on the 3rd Saturdays.

4th Saturdays is the Precision Rifle match.

Colorado Rilfe club has a schedule with a variety of other disciplines as well, the website is www.crci.org (http://www.crci.org)

Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions.

When you get a chance can you post the times, estimated round count, perhaps the fees, and is it a member only or open event?

When you get a chance can you post the times, estimated round count, perhaps the fees, and is it a member only or open event?

Sure,

ALL CRC events are open to the public, that is club policy. Some matches may have specific membership requirements in a national organization, the one below do not for the monthly matches.

Pistol, $15, set-up at 7:30, Sign-up at 8:30, Shooters meeting at 9:30, shoot at 10. Round count should normally be about 125 rounds or so. For the Super Classifier, Sign-up will run from 7:30 until 1pm, match fee of $20/Division. We will have rolling squads...ten sign-up, get a timer and go shoot. You can then shoot the match in other divisions if you so choose (but only 1 at a time). Those who take the class can of course come back and have a go in another division or two.

Multi-Gun, $20, set up at 8, sign-up at 9, shoot at 10. I try to keep it at about 200 rounds. Long range rifle will be about 15, short range rifle about 50, pistol about 70, birdshot about 50 and slugs about 15.

Steel Challenge, all 8 stages, at CRC July 16.

Start time is 9am, 200 rounds to shoot the entire match, so RW says bring 300 per division. $15 1st gun, $10 2nd gun, Juniors FREE.

Decent brick outhouses, but no shade and no water, so bring what you need to survive.

Mark,

Are all of these matches going to be held year round on the same weekends of each month or will it be a hit and miss thing? I'm thinking about joining in on some of the Multi-Gun matches if they fit my schedule...

Thanks, Jason

Thanks, Jason

Jason, MG is the 1st Saturday, USPSA pistol is the 2nd Saturday, SC is the 3rd Saturday and Precision Rifle is the 4th Saturday.

However, due to other events at the range, and competeting events elsewhere, we may not have a particular match on some dates. When winter gets here, there may also be some cancellations due to weather.

The best place to look is at www.crci.org (http://www.crci.org) and check the event calendar. The MG, USPSA pistol and SC also get announced over the ECO results list.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hey all you 3G fans. The season is rapidly coming to an end. If you have any intentions of getting in some 3gun action the rest of this year... it's crunch time. Get out and shoot the CRC match this Sat. I'll see you there!

MG/3G Match for October 1 is a go at CRC. No long range rifle this match, but don't think it will be a sleeper. Bring 100 birshot, 10 slugs, 10 buck. About 60 to 80 each pistol and rifle.

Will have an all shotgun stage, a 3 gun stage, and 2 stages with 2 guns. You will have to do some things you may never have done before. [Muaha]

Set-up at 8, shoot at 10, $20 entry. Usually done by 2pm.

Isn't seasoned a euphemism for old? :)

It was my second USPSA, so virtually everyone was more experienced. Some of the stage strategies that are legal in USPSA left me scratching my head with a few WTF moments. Though I'm not spring poultry myself, I have much to learn. But now that you mention it, some of my elders were shockingly fast.

Thanks for coming out, glad you had fun and did not freeze.

Thing to remember, USPSA is a game. You did have at least one shooter on your squad who needs to read the rulebook and cut back on the illegal gaming though.

Just out of curiosity, could you define what some of the illegality was? (I wasn't there, just wondering). Was it just outside of "spirit of the game"?

MarkCO
12-07-2012, 16:49
There is no such thing as "spirit of the game" in USPSA. Yes, you can game some things, but you can not alter the course of fire or rearrange equipment, especially when there is a stage diagram. If you desire more explanation, ask me at a match. Best,

MarkCO

Thanks to all who came out, set-up, shot and tore down. The weather was great and the stages were probably the funnest group of stages I have shot at a pistol match all year. Thanks to Steve, Conrad, RW and Derrick for the stages and work this year. See you all in 2013.

No. We are going to run one match. If enough people show up and someone steps up to be the MD, we will then have regular IDPA matches at CRC. Otherwise, it will be one and done.

Looks like CRC is hosting the NSSF Rimfire Challenge World Championships in September. YAY! Any idea when the apps will be available? I don't want to get in on this one last minute.

Also curious, Mark, if there's going to be a Colorado State Rimfire Challenge match at CRC this year or if it's going to be at Weld again.

1. Hrm. Multigun. Think my antique Ithaca 37 with the 96" mod barrel would work well? Might need to make a purchase...suggestions?
8. Member of USPSA, never been to a match. That might be doable.
15. LOVE to do steel challenge, but work says next month at best for my first match in that category
22. IDPA...I'll be there...

Don't think SWMBO will be enthusiastic about me running off to Kansas every Saturday, but how can a guy say no?

MarkCO

3Gun Shotgun...IMHO, the Remington Versa-Max is the best option for 3Gun. The Benelli M2 and Vinci are liked by a lot of folks, but the import and 922r make them a non-starter for me. All thing considered, I think the FNH SLP is the 2nd place shotgun for 3Gun. You bring what you have and have fun. You can always bring decent ammo and borrow guns too.

Pick any you like, there is something for everyone at CRC.

Subject: 3Gun at CRC on Saturday

We will be having a 3Gun match at CRC on Saturday. $20, set-up at 8, shoot when the stages are up. I nixed the one stage match since several people were not ready for such a match. We will try that next spring sometime.

4 stages, about 70 rounds each of pistol and rifle, about 40 rounds of birdshot. The stages will be VERY choicey. You could choose to shoot the entire match with pistol only, or 2 of the 3 guns. Paper with pistol or rifle, steel with shotgun or pistol. So if you want to try 3 gun, minus the shotgun, here is your chance.

Held on the East ranges at: www.crci.org (http://www.crci.org/)

Also, I have about a dozen flags for the dynamic movement check-off. I am going to do a new shooter (for the match) class from about 10 to 10:30, shoot through and then about 1pm, I can run some folks through the Dynamic Movement clearance work. If you want to do this, bring $10 for the flag and meet at the stat shack at 1pm.

From Price, the MD...

CRC will be hosting its annual Super Classifier match this Saturday the 10th and we will have six stages. In the years past we have had a rolling start for all squads but we are changing it a bit this year. We will have three start times for squads 8:00, 11:30 and 1:00 in order to allow for people to show up later in the morning if they choose. You will be able to run multiple guns in the same squad or shoot one gun start to finish and then jump on another squad during the next flight to shoot a second or third gun.

We will also be having a new shooter safety briefing on Friday and Saturday starting at Noon for those who either haven't completed the ECO training class or received a USPSA classification. Upon completing the new shooter briefing you will be allowed to shoot the stages for score in order to get your initial USPSA classification. So if you are new to USPSA shooting or have a friend or family member that is, come on out and take advantage of the new shooter briefing and get classified!

Safety Briefings:
12:00 on Friday and Saturday for new or unclassified shooters.

Super Classifier Start times:
8:00, 11:30 and 1:00 on Saturday

Cost:
$20 per gun

Questions/Comments/Concerns please let me know.

So if you want to shoot 3Gun, USPSA, IDPA, etc. at CRC and have not gotten out there yet, multiple opportunities to get squared away. For those who want to get cleared to shoot dynamically on the East Berms, I am going to be using this same safety training with some information on target placement in the berms, etc. So if you want to get cleared, here is a good way to get started. I will be there Friday to complete that if anyone wants to.
