I got this in my in-box, not sure if anyone has heard anything about this, hope its ok to post it:

Fellow Patriot,

Your calls are getting to Harry Reid!

Senior Senate sources told me this morning that Senate chief Harry Reid has buckled under the avalanche of phone calls from gun owners like you, and has promised to allow full votes on all amendments to the mis-named Patriot Act, INCLUDING Senator Rand Paul’s pro-gun amendment.

However, I’ve got some bad news.

Reid’s conspirators in Republican leadership are desperate to protect the Police-State that the Patriot Act enshrines, which is scheduled to expire tonight.

Republican leaders Mitch McConnell and Jon Kyl are blocking a vote on Senator Paul’s amendment which would protect gun owners from Patriot Act searches.

Clearly McConnell and Kyl didn’t get the message that gun owners sent in the last election.

They need to hear from you RIGHT NOW!

Please call Senator Mitch McConnell at (202) 224-2541 and Senator Jon Kyl at (202) 224-4521 . Tell them that gun owners – and all Americans – demand a full up or down vote on Rand Paul’s pro-gun amendment to the mis-named Patriot Act.

Once you’ve called Republican leadership, please, call both your senators again. Even if you’ve already done it, they need to hear from you again.

Call Senator Bennett at (202) 224-5852 and Senator Udall at (202) 224-5941 and demand they stand up for gun owners and support Rand Paul’s pro-gun amendment to the Patriot Act. Tell them that gun owners – and all Americans -- demand protection from the Patriot Act-Police state.

Please, don’t wait to make these calls.

Action on the Patriot Act will come this afternoon, and Republican leadership and your senators need to hear from you.

Right now…

K I'm sorry and I know I'll take flak for this, but Dudley is a fear monger. Honestly all the emails I get from him are all based on ridiculous claims. I know he means well and defends our guns, but his tactics don't help the cause.

+1. I don't even read the emails he send out anymore. I figure if it's something I really need to worry about, I'll hear it somewhere else.

+1. I had to block his garbage emails. It was just getting out of control. And every email he was asking for money. It's worse than the NRA, of whom I'm a member. At least they don't ask for money on a weekly basis. And the NRA backs their claims.

I thought Dudley was quaint with his fear mongering up until last year's Senate race when he called Jane Norton anti-gun and said she was as bad as Obama. Fact is, either Norton or Buck would have been preferable to what we got.

Is the Patriot Act a good and necessary law? Lots of room for valid disagreement there but neither is it the evil that Dudley and Michael Moore portray it to be. Don't confuse intentional misuse of a law with the law itself. Some of the ways the Obama Administration wants to misuse the Patriot Act are right up there a rogue cop or DA misusing drunk driving laws to go after a romantic rival or political opponent -- or the ACLU misusing past case law to destroy America as we know it.

His last missives mischaracterizing and flat out lying about the Patriot Act caused me to block any e-mail associated with his name. I don't think his exaggerations help the fight against Reid, Pelosi or Obama at all -- they just let the left-wing media paint us all as crazy extremists and drive the moderates to the left.

I agree his tactics aren't the best. And it gets old getting his emails filled with dread. But on one issue, the patriot act, I don't see him to be that off base. The patriot act is one thing, and one thing only. A way around the constitutional rights of Americans. Plain and simple. It should have never been enacted, and it should be repealed.

I remember supporting the Patriot Act in college, just because Bush set it up. Ugh.

I'm really over RMGO. I feel like I'm watching PBS beg-a-thon every time I get an email from them. I don't like how political he is in that crap too; I wish they would just stick to the facts instead of bashing political sides...

With that being said, I hope something is done about this Patriot Act garbage

Like Ghettodub, I'm totally over RMGO. Dudley's fear mongering and constant begging for money is worse than the NRA (if that is possible) with far fewer benefits. I'll always donate to RMGO because I believe in the cause (and it gets me on Gun Market) but otherwise, I set up a rule for him a long time ago that sends his emails straight to SPAM.

What about participating in the petitions and calling senators? I mean, I guess it's good to be calling them so they know what their constituents are concerned about, right?

Exactly, and I thought about getting some things changed at the state level by calling our representatives in Denver, but backed out thinking that they would ignore a petition of only 200 or so... but thinking back should get something going here and let them know what the voters want from their elected leaders, otherwise we can stop paying taxes until they listen- that whole "no taxation without representation" that our founding fathers went to war over. If they ignore their constituents then we aren't being fairly or properly represented and thats grounds for them failing at their elected jobs.
