I'll be moving there in less than 4 weeks. Wife still teaches online course at her old university. Need internet service in the new home soon.

Please recommend me an ISP, or share your experience dealing with ISP companies that service the area.

There is a local communication company called K2Communication located in Mead. I have tried to contact them by phone and email, they never responded. Are they out of business? I try to give my money to local businesses if possible. But I do expect good service in return as well.

I understand national company like QWest and Comcast usually have dealership that serve a certain area. If you know good dealership or a good package available in the area, I can sure use that information.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info, I just emailed them 5 minutes ago, they already emailed me back. Very responsive.

OOT perhaps, but where do you shoot high power around there? I used to shoot service rifle in MO until I got too busy with finishing my degree and family life. I would love to get back into it again after my move to CO.

I just looked up where Mead is. Seems like Comcast would be out there. I don't know for sure of course.

I would stay away from Comcast. I have had nothing but problems with them from the beginning, starting with their installers breaking my ceiling tiles in my basement and then putting it on the work order "ceiling tiles were already broken upon arrival" and then having my wife sign the paper work.

Then they came back to install a second cable connection in my basement and they drilled the hole through my hardwood floors 1.5 feet away from the baseboard. Then he moved the love seat over to cover up the coax cable in the floor as if that was OK.

Then another time they drove around and noticed my house had some signal leakage, so the guy gets out and walks onto my property and disconnects my internet service and installs a filter by accident. Didn't even knock on the door to notify us what he was doing.

Then they have the inability to change my due date to the 25th of every month. I told them that I get payed the 5th and the 20th every month and they will get payed after the 20th. I also told them that I will NOT PAY LATE CHARGES. Well they charge me late charges, I subtract the late charges every time I pay them and then every 6 months or so they disconnect my service.

After this post, I am looking up Direct TV

I'm in the Mead area and been with Skybeam for 10 years (they were Mesanetworks before) and they are great.

Definite +1 for the Skybeam recommendation. In fact you should tell them I sent you!

Interesting, a 4G-based technology. The website does not specify how fast the download/upload connection is. I guess with 4G, the speed depends on how close you are to the nearest tower. I think in Perth, Aussie, they found the speed ranging from 1 Mbit/s to 30 Mbit/s.

Jim, I plan to join WCFW for their 2012 membership drive. How long is the waiting list? I heard there is a club in Boulder that has waiting list 5-7 years long.

Really?

I ROFLMAO'd hard at this one...

yeah, the world gives 2 shits about when you get paid. They bill on a certain date, they expect payment on that date. everyone does this, I would suggest you keep a payment in the bank ahead of time maybe?

As for Comcast service.
I Have filed complaints against them and gotten satisfaction. The ceiling tile thing? yeah... never sign anything you dont read maybe?
so if you haven't called and had a supervisor out, I really dont know what to say.
I will say this though, you will never get cable speeds on twisted pairs... just ain't happening.
and why would you want to pay for a land line service?

ANY Satellite based service... HORRIBLE for real time usage, such as voice or video. Keep that in mind.
Cell is a nice alternative if you have nothing else. expect higher costs, weather related interruptions, etc. Generally a better option than land line (POTs) for speed.

I suggest you sign up for the waiting list. I have other folks i know out there and told them the same thing. Sure you may be at the bottom of the list, but you would be surprised how many do not renew OR miss the dead line to re-up. I had one friend who called me every 2-3 weeks saying i'm at the bottom , them middle of the list and did not want to wait. Said to be patient and wait, next thing you know he was called to attend the orientation meeting and is now as 2 other friends a member of the range.
When i joined it was $50 yearly, since i worked in greality 3x a week i hit the range as many. Went through 3K of ammo a week, luckily 1K rounds of .308 , .223 or 9mm was under $100 per.
