Do bear tags get done over the counter? If so when are they released?
The wife got preggers at a most inconvenient time and I never had the chance to put in for a tag.

Yes, you can get an over the counter bear tag. But it does depend on what unit and what season! Most units are by draw only. The tags are available when the "left over tags" become available. I hope this helps. [Beer]

Thank you.
When will I know when the left over licenses become available?
Edit: Nevermind, 7/12. Thank you all for your patience, but the Co dept of wildlife website is very confusing.

As a "wannabe", with lots of shooting knowledge but little to no hunting knowledge- I'm surprised that no additional training or orientation or whatever is required to hunt dangerous game. Such as a frakkin bear.
They teach you that you should hunt with someone and,,,
All you have to do is be faster than your hunting pard.

The bears around here hardly qualify for dangerous game.

I dunno.... Google "colorado bear attacks 2010" - lots of results just for 2010.
I'm saving my points for bear so I can draw the best area in colorado. I don't care to kill bear year after year. just one, maybe two colorado bears is all I really want to go for. I heard the meat is good in burger or sausage. I will definitely get the hide done so I can have a rug.
I have yet to see a bear while out hunting. My buddy saw a momma and her cubs while driving up to our camp last year.
Best roast I ever ate was bear. And Mt Lion chilli kicks ass.
