However, I do need my roof re-shingled and the company that came off the street is well off the street. Allied Roofing & Exteriors helped me get the ball rolling with filing a claim and now I'm wondering what the next step is?
Do you have any idea what I should look for?
Do you know a good company that could use the work?

How can I see if a company is legal or had any problems?
Thanks.

Ask them for a certificate of insurance. Then, call the agency on the certificate and ask what they are covered for. Many, many roofers aren't insured, and if they ARE insured, they aren't insured for roofing.

Must be nice. Mine was ruined almost two years ago and had to file suit against Farmer's. Still tied up in court with that one. Way to go Farmer's, you dirtbags. [Beer]

We've used two roofing companies since 1997.

Excel Roofing did our old house in 97. Simply outstanding results from start to finish. Can't recommend them highly enough.

We also had our current house re-roofed 2 years ago. That time we used A Smith Roofing out of Highlands Ranch (303-346-1840). This house has a very difficult roof due to pitch, terrain near the house and numerous skylights.

The finished roof is beautiful. There were a few issues:

One broken skylight. Glass everywhere and damage to my desk where the falling glass gouged and scratched it.
Heavy rain the night of the broken skylight allowed water inside the roof which then proceeded down the inside wall and damaged drywall and paint. Larry (the company owner) drove up here with one or two of his crew and did a temp patch at 8pm, in the rain, to prevent further damage.
Skylight was replaced and drywall was quickly repaired...obviously at no cost to us.I'd highly recommend either company. We did go with A Smith over Excel this last time because of a lower bid on a higher-quality roof.

Larry installed Malarkey 50 Year impact-resistant shingles...really nice. We couldn't be happier.

To check the validity of a company a good place to start is the Secretary of State's website. You can verify that they are legit at least. A general Google search will often prove helpful.
I am in the same boat as well. That 4 inches of pea/marbel sized hail a couple weeks ago took a lot of the granules off of my shingles. The bottom of the downspouts looked like a sandbox.

I checked with the state and the changed their business name from J & S Dry wall inc to Allied Roofing & Exteriors could mean a lot of things. But he seems to be a sole employee.

I was looking at buying a rifle in the For Sale section but then had to back out due to wind damage taking a toll of my roof. rhineoshott (http://www.co-ar15.com/forums/member.php?u=1615) on here sent me a PM saying he works for a roofing company called Weatherproof roofing and wanted to know if he could help out. Might want to shoot him a PM.

Unfortunately the company I worked with instead sucked. I was already too far into the process to back out when rhineoshott (http://www.co-ar15.com/forums/member.php?u=1615) had contacted me (plus I hadn't seen any complaints regarding them). A while later the city came out and inspected my roof. They found some issues that were potentially hazardous (some sort of duct tightened down to the point of not letting gas escape. It made my water heater shut off every day from not having enough ventilation). The guy from the city actually said he was surprised we hadn't been getting sick. I've also had to call them on a few occasions because I haven't received my warranty information. Lallier Contruction is a company I'd avoid (the ones who did my roof).
