All gave some; some gave all.
I always think of my maternal grandfather on Memorial Day - he's burried in Arlington National Cemetery, knew MacArthur, served in Japan just after we nuked the place, got cancer and met John Wayne several times at their common doctors offices. Interesting fellow.

Early tomorrow morning I will be visiting two graves. Both of my grandfathers. Both served in the pacific. One was awarded the purple heart and the bronze star. Their generation was truly an inspiration. And we should all strive to be as good of men as our grandfathers were.
Also I have to acknowledge all the men and women that have served since. To all of the Americans that have ever given their life in defense of what we hold dear, I raise my glass to you and to your families for the most honorable sacrifice a person can make.

Thanks to all that keep us safe at night. USA-USA-USA-USA
I have not seen enough flags flying this weekend. Please make sure (its not too late) to fly Old Glory. Remember what today is all about.......not just a paid day off from work!

I fly Old Glory 365 day a year but had to take it down today because the nasty winds were going to beat it ragged. [Marine]

Thought it would be a great day to clean up some Lake City 1943 .30-06 brass. Made me wonder who the last person was to run it through a die some 68 years ago, who shot it, did they make it through the war...

Somehow, this brass is still soft, still had the primer pocket crimp, and sized easily enough that I'm sure it didn't go through a machine gun. Had to be a Garand or a 1903 Springfield.
Anyway, hats off to all that served and supported.
It's always a good time to remember that freedom isn't free but sometimes comes with a very high price.
