I've wanted a Corgi for a long time. The local shelter (Intermountain Humane Society (http://imhs.org/)) is dealing with a Corgi breeder-turned-hoarder situation.

A lady in the area has about 30-40 Corgis of various ages that she can no longer care for. She's turning them over to IMHS a few at a time.

I went in last week and fell in love with this one. We named her "Bobbi" because everything on her is bobbed.

She's a cutie:

Bobbi is about 8 years old. She's very sweet and loves attention, though she didn't let on about that for the first 2 days or so.

Yeah...they are a strange-looking creature, for sure. But I think that's why I like them so much.

She tried to run away from me the other day. Running as fast as she can she still can't outrun a 50 year old fat man. I just walked up to her and picked her up when she stopped.

She had a real "it sucks having such short legs" look on her face.

The family determined a few years ago the next dog we get will be a Corgi (hopefully a few years away). Good lookin' dog you got there. My uncle has one that rides on his atv everywhere and plays with the local Kit foxes in California. Nice small, mellow dog, but still has good herd dog smarts.

Congrats. Glad to hear of people supporting shelters. I have my next dog planned out, but we gotta wait for the current ones to enjoy their lives though.

Not the biggest fan of smaller dogs, but Corgis are the only real exception because you cannot hate on such a cool dog. I have many friends that own them and they all say they are the best companion, easy to transport, and overall just nice friends. I love to support shelters, my German Shepherd/Akita came from puppy rescue, but unfortunately my next dog I want to get (the GS/A and our golden are the "family dogs" between me, my mom, and brother- long story as to why I still live with mom at 26) isn't found at animal shelters/rescues- a German Shepherd/Wolf- hybrid. Any dog lovers here know of a good breeder to track one down in about 7-9 months?

I was never a fan of small dogs, either. Then one day my wife brought home a Jack Russell Terrier. That was 1994 and the JRT was only 8 weeks old. She died last summer 17 years to the day that my wife brought her home.

Since Chloe (the first one) we've had 6 other JRTs and now the Corgi.

I like all dogs, though. The little yard sharks are just big dogs in little dog bodies.

Cool Carl. Always had big dogs then our last one died, and the wife brought home a Bugg. She is 10' tall and bullet proof, in her mind, 21#s of alpha beast.

Gonna teach her to ride with you?
