hi there, been using an Eotech 512 and removable M&P front sight on my Rock River for quite a while and decided that I needed to set up a BUIS for my AR.

i can usually maintain a 1.5" group @100 yds with the Eotech while co-witnessing the front sight. so all is good there.

however, i installed a magpul Backup Sight on my rifle and just couldn't get enough elevation in my front post to get my hits on paper at 25 yds.

so i ended up shooting from 10 yds to get on paper and found out that i had to aim at the very bottom of the target to hit the very top of the target.

since the magpul doesn't have elevation adjustments i was dependent on dialing it in with my front sight post.

after totally increasing the height of my front post to point where it could barley stay in the notch i was able to decrease my point of aim and point of impact to about 12" at 25 yds.

all the while i was able to walk my hits down the target getting closer to my point of aim. windage was good and was easily able to keep the groups kissing each other dead center.

so now i'm wondering which type of BUIS would allow me enough elevation adjustment along with my front sight to get a 50 yrd zero with my iron sights.

or my front sight post needs to be taller to help make up for the lack of elevation adjustment.

thoughts?

I know that Troy makes a gas block height front sight that is taller and midway has taller front sight posts. I have the same issue with my Troy's i bought the taller front sight post and it was still low so I had to put my front sight on my railed hand guards.

Nate is on the right track with this one. I would opt for the taller front sight instead of the post though.

Certainly makes sense to me. Guess I'll need to do some homework to verify what I got and the options that are out there. I'll look into the Troy to compare sizes. Thanks.

Found this by Troy. Exactly what I'm looking for to resolve my issue, correct?

and that should correct my same plane front sight issue. here's the gas block i'm using: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=793138
