View Full Version : Colorado Required Signage?

My last thread I brought up an encounter I had in the Springs with OC opposition.

The next question is: Is there a law/ordnance in Colorado that says that a business owner has to display a sign that is such-and-such big with such-and-such size of letters for the sign to be 'legal' or otherwise in accordance with some state statute?

I don't want to hi-jack my own thread for this different topic.

A basic use of the search function yielded nothing that was immediately recognizable as what I was looking for.

Thanks in advance for the replies!

No, you're thinking of Texas.

I know Texas has the laws about it. Colorado does not, then?

I haven't heard of such a law but I have seen signs in Nebraska in gas stations along I80.

Not sure why it would be required though. If the property owner doesn't want guns on his/her property then they have the right to ask person to disarm or leave the premises. If person refuses to leave then they are guilty of trespassing.

The sign is just a courtesy, in my opinion.

What I'd been told is with a sign up, (thought it had to be somewhat prominent or well visible at the entrances) if you ignore it and go in, you can get charged with trespass right then and there if the cops show up.

Without the sign, then they would have to ask you to leave, and you should be in the clear as long as you pick up and go. (Stay and argue then here come the popo)
