Just finished a Yugo M72 RPK. The kit was in good shape. It didn't come with a bipod and that was a new one. I messed up one of the rivets but it seems to be holding together. Heaqdspaces fine on the pin hole. I did put a side rail on. I used Oxpho blue on the receiver.
I used an NDS receiver, Tapco FCG. AK Builder gas piston and Ronin grip for 922r. The receiver was slotted for a double hook so I used one. Of course it needed fitting. This should be fun but I'll be out of town for awhile so might not get to shoot it for awhile.

I like all the markings on the furniture.
Looks really good.

It would have been terrible to do a heavy finish on the wood. The markings are cool. I'll have to get them explained sometime. I just wiped it with denatured alcohol on a rag to get the grease off and rubbed a little Watco natural on. Some time I.ll have to see about removing a few dents and scrapes but leave it with the military look.
The rest of the metal looked more like a deep blue than park so I tried Oxpho for the first time and it worked okay. I might hit the receiver again to make it more uniform and darker. I did a lot of polishing on it and it really helped. I'll take better pictures but right now it is locked in the safe and I'll be out of town for 10 days or so.

Very nice looking build. Those m72's are sure heavy aren't they?
Those markings on the handgaurd look like the previous owner was a good shot. [M2]
If you don't have the time I'll be more than happy to shoot it for you and make sure it works [Coffee]

Does the sling loop get in the way when installing your scope? Your cold blue turned out nice. Now we need to try our own hot bluing ;)

It should fit okay. There's a fair amount of room. At the worst I'd have to remove the sling since swivel lies flat.
The bluing came out okay but it took a lot of work to prep the metal. Some blasting and lots of sanding and steel wool. I want to do Parkerizing for other kits. I think that would look more appropriate for non-Yugo ones.
