Anyone in the Springs do barrel fluting?

I know Hickman rifles does but he had my action-ed barrel for over a month (for a two hour job he said) and still didn't get around to it. So I just went to go pick it up.

Anyone else in the Springs do that I can try? It's a 24inch (26ish w/action attached).

Fluting after the inside of the barrel has been finished is not a good idea.

Skip Otto in Grand Junction is one of the few in the US that does a good job of it. I dont even know if he is still taking work much less still alive.

[LOL]

Hoser hit it right-you don't want to flute a finished barrel. Cutting the rifling induces stresses on a barrel and you go removing material in a non-uniform manner and strange things can happen.
If you want to reduce the weight throw it in the mail to me and I can turn it down a touch.

I've been warned to leave it alone, so I guess I will. Give me an excuse to do another build then right? Ha... If I only had some $$$.

you can always just get a new barrel and have it swapped out... Then sell off the old barrel recovering a % of the costs
