Video of me shooting the POF P415 5.56mm AR I just got. Also did a transition to my Springfield 1911 GI Champion and had a stove pipe I had to correct in short order. Very fun... and here are some pics:

Sweet! I love pictures and videos. Looks like all you need now are some back up sights. [Awesom]

Nice pics. I'm pretty sure I've met you briefly up there several weeks ago. You were up there with a buddy and a girl shooting shotguns and I offered you guys some trash bags?...I was in the red dodge ram.

I have backup sights but they're no good for the piston system due to the rail being raised, so next week I'm gonna see if I can exchange for some diamondhead low profile sights.
I think so. We had my AK and were shooting some clays. Squaw is always fun, except today it was busy.

Here's my brother shooting, funny how he chose to wear shorts, but it was pretty warm today... minus the wind which kept blowing my paper target around.

It's between Evergreen and Georgetown off Hwy 103.. easy way there: Exit I-70 WB at Evergreen Parkway, 4th Stop light turn right onto Squaw Pass Rd (Hwy 103), about 10.2mi up there is a dirt service road on the left (Just passed Mi Marker 21) follow that up (4x4 or SUV/Truck suggested as a car WILL bottom out or get undercarriage damage) until an offshoot (hairpin) on the right and continue until you reach the clearing- best place to shoot but can get pretty crowded on weekends. If you reach Echo Mountain Ski Area you've gone too far- or there is a back way in just passed the entrance to the ski area, turn onto dirt svc rd on left and take the first left and continue like before- and there is a small area before the main clearing to shoot, can't miss it, look for casings.
Hope it helps, otherwise we can arrange to meet up in Evergreen sometime and go up together if you wanna go shooting sometime, great thing is I live 10min from Squaw Pass Rd and Evergreen Pkwy and it takes about 15min from there to get to what we call "The Playground."

I have no problem with safe, fun, good guys going shooting up there, it's the d-bags and the irresponsible kids who trash the place that I hate. I almost considered becoming a reserve deputy with Jeffco, one benefit would be to help educate and change the way things go up there- people usually listen to authority. Although Squaw is in Clear Creek County, issuing a citation for littering wouldn't be too much of an issue with CCCSO since it's looking out for the National Forest.

Also, side note, shot with a US Forest Service Agent a few months back and he said that if word gets out enough to help with efforts to clean up shooting areas it would greatly benefit the State and they'd be more inclined to assist with putting in some sort of actual facility for shooting (IE: permanent target stands and the like).

Awesome Ronin, thanks for the directions. I'm all on board for a safe, fun day of shooting. No booze, just some some awesome blastin'. [AR15]

I'm afraid I don't know what you're getting at...

The reason you get a stove pipe is from not holding on to the weapon tight enough. You hands, wrist and arms absorb the recoil of the weapon instead of the slide operating properly. This is known as limp wristing.

I use the Costa doctrine of holding the weapon- cover all surface area and grip to reduce chances of going off target from recoil. I guess that instance my hands must have slipped or loosened a bit- I don't really recall, I was having too much fun just being all Hooah.

Very nice Ronin. So how far back can you shoot at that spot? I just picked up a Colt LE6940 a few months ago and am looking for a good spot to go...

Honestly I think you can get 75yds level and more if you shoot higher into the the back drop.

Nice. Does it get very crowded up there?

Ronnin say it does. Everytime I've been I usually have the big area all to myself. I get up there early and people who know about the place are usually respectful of "your area"

Nice, I may check it out. I just may need to drag a friend along or someone who had a better vehicle for the road. If it requires any clearance my car just isn't going to cut it...

[LOL] It's gone now- after that I was kinda like "Geesh, I do not like how my hippy do looks!" So now it's short and professional again.
