The best is the guy that is sitting in what appears to be an office chair in the middle of the road with a rifle pointed up.
Awesome. Nice FN F2000 w/ 40mm launcher and suppressor. Nice home made technicals. Always Toyota HiLux/4Runners

I'm reminded of a National Review piece by Dave Kopel that ran several years ago.
These Libyans are no Bougainville Revolutionary Army, but the point still stands ... outlaw something and people will find a way to make it.

That's how I would go to war and won't expect anything less from this point on
The guy in the chair was just awesome. I love the FN with the launcher and can on it, if I could have set mine up like that for a reasonable cost, I might have kept it....

I want a Toyota Hilux.
They're readily available all over the US (just without the "Hilux" badge ... they just call them Toyota Pickups here).
You can't get a Tacoma with a diesel stateside though. Not easily anyway.

Ah, well being a Hilux doesn't mean its a diesel, just that its a pickup (agreed that Toyota should sell more diesel pickups here in the states ... I'm surprised they don't import more of them but I bet there's some sort of CARB regulation interference there).
You could always buy a used one and stuff a VW TDI motor in it.
I don't want to derail the thread, but I was thinking something like putting the diesel from the Jeep Liberty into a Wrangler. I wish the US offered more mid size diesel SUV's. A full size Ford Bronco with a diesel would be awesome. A diesel Toyota Landcruiser with the factory lockers would be even better. At least there is always the option to purchase those diesel military Chevy Blazers from the 80's.
On topic, I also think that FN looks cool. :)
time to weld something up like that in my old pickup!

A buddy of mine who has spent 5+ years fighting in that part of the world swears by Toyotas simply because he has chased the bastards driving them all over the desert and mountains. They just keep running through the high heat and abuse with 10 guys and weapons packed in the back and little maintenance.

You've seen the Top Gear (UK) episode where they tried to destroy a HiLux? It's on Youtube. They left it anchored in a bay when the tide came in, put it on top of a highrise building that was then explosively destroyed... generally abused it. It kept running.

So is Toyota one of the official Sponsors of the Libyan Rebellion? Or are they just appearing so because NATO can't seem to finish their sponsorship paperwork?

They are everywhere in the 3rd world since they keep going. I love my 99 Tacoma. I just drove it to Georgia & back and its been down riverbeds in Arizona mountains without a problem.
