here is a walther pp .32, pre ww2 1930's mfg, made before April 1939, when the "crown over N" proof was replaced by an "Eagle over N" proof. called a "waffenamt" a nazi german proof stamp.
effin super clean in & out, very heavy, accurate and just tops.hands down!
Finish was high polish blue during the thirties and early stages of World War II, trending toward a milled, rougher finish nearer the end of the War. Models were also finished in nickel, chrome and ultra chrome (verchromt), a type of silver parkerized finished. Engraved models were finished in blue, silver and gold."
anyone care to chat about walthers in general?

I have only 2 PPs. 1 is a pre-war Eagle/N, 98%, best trigger I've ever felt on a Walther. The other is a late war, full slide legend, matching #'s, WaA359, "about" 99%. Never fired either one.

Nice. I've drifted too far away from C&Rs to go back. But those are on my "bucket List of guns to own"

These are really going up in price, expecially at the higher condition range. I keep the stuff that I collect cherry.
Never fired either one.
That's why I can't have nice guns. I would be out shooting them all the time. (And probably be devaluing them as well) [Bang]

I'm not afraid to shoot any of them, just haven't gotten around to it!!

Those WW2 P38s are as accurate as any other gun I've shot (except my Nighthawk and several others) as long as you can do your part. I think I've shot 5 or 6 of them.

i love the p38's ,cant get enough of em,
its a formidable weapon and ive never had an fte or ftf. thats why people were
riding there ass on them, with pp, ppk/s, p38 pre and post war
i love my lil pp i ccw it sometimes, very heavy well made
also i take a step back in time every time i pick er up.
people tend to scoff at the pp and its 7.65 browning.
id say my pp is about 95% + condition
but with todays speer gold dots and well shot placement , your golden[Beer]

For awhile I was collecting all types of German small arms 1900-1945, but decided to narrow my interests to Mauser manufacture... Walther related Mausers:
2 P.38s, both byf43. One is a type 1, the other a type 2 variant:

There are others I prefer to shoot on a regular basis. The old ones have historic interest, but I prefer more modern guns (Sigs, HKs, etc).
Some more of my Mausers:

Nice looking red 9..
Thanks. It was a GI bring back from WW2. Claims it came out of the Mauser factory with "A A W" already engraved on it and his research indicates it belonged to "August Weiss" (who was director of handgun production at Mauser in the '30s and '40s)... but without documentation it's just a good story for a scratched up old red 9.
I had the rig made by a master leather craftsman in the style of M1930 export, but with a pouch similar to the LP08. The Mauser Banner stock is an M1930 I picked up in a trade.

the crumudgeon in me would tell ya insure it for 2k if you have the original holster and magazine,i do not. the holster is about $300 and mag $150 or so.
still you do not find pre war pp's around..i picked up a late war pp for $895.
ugly as heck, but internally the same. great piece of history and just a great handgun. mine is like butter[Beer]

You can get holsters and mags cheaper than that. You're also a little high in your valuation of the pistol, imho. WaA-marked PPs and PPKs are more valuable than non- WaA pistols, as they are more scarce.[Beer]

Can these be loaded with an external mag, or is it just strippers. I only ask cause on the opening montage of Top Shot, they show a guy clicking a mag into one and I want to call bullshit.

Both depending on model.
Mr. Burns
08-28-2011, 18:13
i beg to differ as the mid to late war pp's have a very sloppy and ugly rough milled finnish that looks like a cz52.
i think finding one in the same decade as mfg 1929 to 1939- is much rarer and more desireable as the late war ones are everywhere.
the waffenamt doesent mean a thing.
i know mine has been through some socialist police officers hands at one point in the 1930's. what price tag would you yourself put on a pre ww2 walther pp? ive been offered 1k for mine. and that was for starters.
maybe there is something i am missing with mine.
had a few ppl on here lusting after it, scrambling trying to trade multiple guns and cash for er. but as i said i do not see pre wars.
just chattn about these is cool. i do not know everything.
i do know i enjoy a walther in any model. be it 3, 4, 9 , pp, ppk, ppk s-"special" or ...well gosh i can go on and on lmao[Coffee]

It's not the finish that makes it less or more desirable, it's the markings. You are terribly wrong about the markings. Nazi-marked PPs and PPKs are harder to find than civilian eagle/N marked guns. I hate to quote money numbers as they fluctuate and the collectable gun market has been somewhat depressed for a couple of years. I rely on the Whittington books for my collectability/scarceness opinion. I know I picked up a decent black WaA holster for my PP about 2 years ago for $125. Mags are right around $100 or a touch more, depending on markings.
