So I was thinking my next purchase would be a 1911, I have always loved them and want a larger caliber pistol anyway. I came across the new Remington 1911 and wondered if you guys had heard anything...looks nice!

My opininion. Can't go wrong with a 1911. Buy the best you can within your budgt and put lots of bullets down the pipe

That's a nice looking gun, and Remington is a great company... I'd say if you decide on that you won't be making a bad choice.

I bought a R1 a couple months ago, and so far its been great. Perfectly reliable after the break-in period, and pretty damn accurate to boot. Fit and finish isn't exactly up to par with higher end 1911s, but good enough for me.

In terms of modifications, I've added a Wilson Combat full length guide rod and an 18 1/2 lb. recoil spring. I also replaced the wood grips with the Hogue rubber wraparound grips, but I don't expect I'll do much beyond that. Might replace the mainspring housing, as the stock unit is polymer, but overall I'm very happy with it as is.
