Thanks for those photos car-15.

This morning the wife and I took a short drive down to Raton to check out the damage. We are/were very interested since we live just a few miles North of the fire area.
There were still some hot spots at around 10AM this morning and we could easily see them just South of the CO/NM line on the East side of I-25 after passing the NM scale pull off ramp. Managed to see a BIG helo dropping his load of water right on one hot spot and his aim was perfect to drench the target.
Had suitcases packed, important papers boxed up and gun cases in the house ready to tote them off if we received the reverse 911 call to haul ass out of our place. No call so now we'll put the packed stuff where we can still get at it in the event we will have to vacate. We really need rain down here in Trinidad as now we have more than just an urgent need for moisture. We're even praying for rain now.[Help]

Thanks for sharing, even though I always hate seeing that. Still blows my mind when I drive by the Hayman area...

I know what you mean Ghetto, my dad was one of the commanders at the Hayman fire and also the one later that year up in Clear Creek County, with his position with West Metro Incident Management and Evergreen Fire Protection District we were able to go in after everything was said and done and look at the damage- let's just say if you don't respect fire it will destroy EVERYTHING!
