View Full Version : Bear oh my!
My mom just sent me this from a few miles down the road up here in Evergreen... a bear wandering around outside her office. Thought it was pretty neat and I'd share with you guys. The FedEx guy came in and told us about right before I got the email from the mom and said he almost hit it with his truck (brazen animal) and that the fire fighters at the station across the street were all outside checking it out. Now granted, we get bears and mountain lions up here, but never in a crowded area like where the office park my mom works at is.

That's cool. My folks get em all the time in their yard in Conifer.
Hey, if you ever need paint, my family owns the paint store in Bergen Park (shameless plug chance, there)

Just an afternoon stroll - using the path, no less...
Very very nice.
I've climbed half the 14ers in the state, done alot of hiking, never have seen a bear in Colorado.
Wish I knew alot more about where they were and their habits, I'd love to do a bear hunt once.

That is cool, thanks for sharing. Closest I've ever been to a bear was about 50 yards away in Idaho, thing was huge. Wouldn't be the species I would pick to mess with.
We have a few that come by here. Little one was here last week.

Actually funk, this happened about an hour and a half ago.. so morning stroll...
Ghetto, I know exactly what paint store you're talking about. I have no painting projects coming up, but I'll go there if I need some anytime.

Yep...see a few at my place in Conifer, spotted one ~2 weeks ago at th end of the drive. I have my widlife cam out but no matter how much I press, all I get is fox, elk, mule's and the occasional wandering dog. Once I get a bear...and I will...I plan to post it here on COAR.
Which paint store? I used to hit the Benj Morre shop over there but...now they've opened in Aspen Park so I've been going there lately.
Had one in my back yard at 5:30 this morning. He ate the contents of the neighbors bird feeder for breakfast.
I enjoy seeing them and they don't really cause any problem other than losing a bird feeder or two.

So I probably paid for your entire fuckin' education man...your folks have half my money! ;)
Great shop, great service, good people...Glad to hear this and yup...I'll be spending more. Tell em' thanks for the Aspen Park move, great call since their [freindly] competition had to close shop. Good stuff and I hope the extended business is a success.

Glad to hear that you've had a good experience with us. We do try really hard to have good customer service. The new store is pretty nice too.
Speaking of Aspen Park: Jim, the owner of Aspen Park Paint, drove by our new shop the other day and flipped everyone off. Really classy...

I have 2 -3 running amuck up here. One is pushing about 350 - 375 lbs. Big bastard. I have a cinnamon one, little prick keeps getting into the neighbors horse feed, and taking a BIG Sh!t in my drive way.[Rant2]
Our neighbor has one poking around right now. The dogs are going crazy.
Can't even go for a walk without people taking pics and poking at me... geesh....
I lived in and around Colo spgs for 23 years. Deer and elk and turkey hunted and was always somewhere fishin or mt bikin.
Saw exactly 3 bears.
Moved to Wisconsin and now see 3 or 4 everyday and twice on trash day. I'll be gettin some pics up when I get my camera back from x wife.

This little guy was hanging out in a friend's yard a few months back. They are pretty cool to watch.

Fixed.
I am of the mind that If I know they are there and just passing through, not bothering anyone, No one needs to die.
With a Bear, that's never a certainty who it'll be.
Watch from a distance, preferably through optics.
Ironic timing, had an encounter this morning coming down Pike View Rd on Conifer Mountain, a good size dude standing in the middle of the road when I came around a hair-pin. Slowly ambled off the side of the road and headed-up the mountain. I pulled-over and watched it for few...another cool experience. Was looking a little scraggly though, still had some winter fur it was purging for the warm season.

But it's warm in there!! Don't worry, summers here and I shouldn't be in there too much longer... btw, sry for eating all your cat food, you left it out!
HAHA. [Beer]
A few years ago my wife and I were driving on 25 Mesa rd. Right next to the forrest service cattle guard sat a little cinnamon cub with a budweiser bottle trying to get a drink out of it. Cute as hell. We watched him for for the about a minute before he scooted for the woods. DAMN! no camera.

Um, that wasn't cat food. It was the droppings off some guy from a yoga fest. [Tooth]
