immediate help needed , please !!!!
so there i was on my way to south site today and my top radiator hose went out , over heating starts . fix hose (after a 5 hour wait on the side of the road ) , dang over heat again [Rant1] , ok thermostat time , no biggie but the last owner cross threaded a bolt and well .... yep i broke it .
long and or short end of it is my jeep is stuck in deckers and i cant afford the tow or overprice 10 min repair
so i really need a drill and tap set along with someone who knows how to use them ASAP . i dont have much but ill compensate in some fashion (cash ammo ,karma , ect)
i really need this done tomorrow if possible .ill meet any time day or night , hell ill go right now if someone is ready
job : drill and tap one bolt right on top , quick and simple
again please help me out coar15 shooters . the sooner and cheaper i can get this done the better to donate more time cleaning up to south site !!also i want to avoid tickets and impound [Tooth]

i am no where near you, however being cross threaded you may need to heli-coil the hole once the bolt is out.

How bad is it cross threaded? Is the bolt hole aluminum?

I don't have the tools but if you get a hold of a set (tap and die set can be rented from Checker... er... O'Rielly Auto Parts for free) and a drill, and a proper bit, I'm can help you out. If you can pay for the fuel to get there and back I can drive you there and we can get er done.

I dunno what Jeep you have but I'm PRETTY sure that on the 4.0/4.2 in line 6 the t-stat housing is replaceable ... at worst you can hit up jeeps unlimitied up near wray and get one off a motor there ...
might be a CRAP load easier then the whole tap die heli coil thing .
oh hell I think thatis just the upper housing.. not lower.. the lower is right into the head huh ??
well what a useless comment ....
If it weren't so darn far out of my way (or if the damn thing coulda waited 'til Friday lol) I'd have you running in no time. Sorry I could be of no assistance but here's to wishing you the best of luck bro. [Beer]
Whoever helps the OP will get a box of 9mm ammo from me.
Alxone, sorry man, have no skills/tools to help ya.
thanks for the support guys!! looks like im headed out (deckers) soon , have a number of 2 , ill let everyone know what happens this evening . good thing from all of this is ill have my gal's pick up and my jeep so ill be able to get that shot up flat screen in the back of the park !!(once the jeep is going again)
on a side note i cant for the life of me figure why someone would bring a 48 inch new tv to shoot up . guess some folks can just throw away money

$50 car dolly from the rental shop and tow it home with someone's truck.

We shall see if he gets it home. it turned out to be a V-8 so the bolt was down a bit. I got it drilled and soaked it but still broke the easy-out not even trying. I could not have had more than 10ft lb on it when it snapped.
So phase 2 was to clean it and put some RTV on it. Then after tightening the one bolt down let it sit for 3-4 hours. It looked like someone had replaced the thermostat at one time and did not use anti-seize on the bolt into the aluminum manifold.[Rant2].
I do need to find a good set of extractors. I have a set of Rigid ones with the collars and guides but they were not going to work in this application. I am getting tired of the brittle chinese crap.[Bang]

I've not used easy outs since I bought left handed drill bits.

I have a set and after I found out it was a V8 instead of the old rambler motor I wished I had brought them.[Bang]

me too now she is on 67 dirt road , fix would have worked if i had remembered to get the gasket off first [Bang]. back to it in the mornin[Rant2]
just the same thanks for the help and sorry you broke your tool on my truck .
if I wasn't 1200 miles away I would bring my truck and car trailer down and at least get it home. I would be worthless as far as anything else due to lack of tools and knowledge.
sorry for the troubles man, hope it works out soon. sounds like it will get done one way or another
