Hello all,
I am putting together my first AR, so, i guess I am not an AR owner untill it shoots. But right now my FFL has my spikes tactical complete lower and at home I have my BCM upper (minus the BCG, handguard, CH). As soon as I have enough funds for my other parts I will have a fully functioning AR for a lot more money that I thought I was gonna spend. Damn these guns add up the money quick, especialy when you go, meh what is another 20 bucks, whats another 50 bucks, then before you know it you have spend 650 bucks and have another 400 left to buy.
Anyways, Thanks guys!
Welcome, nice choice on BCM and Spikes, they make great stuff. And I know exactly how you feel about emptying the wallet. Its worth it though

Thanks everybody. I forgot to mention that the upper is the standard 16 inch BCM middy.

No, sorry I am not. I never had the honor of serving in the armed forces.

HA HA, I just looked up Mountain Garrison of the 501st Legion and that is fricken hilarious!!!!! I am such a NEWB.
Welcome to the forum, and yes...those little black rifles can really be hell on your wallet. It took me a long time to figure out exactly how I wanted my first AR set up. Now that I've got it where I want it...man am I glad I spent the money! Take care.

spikes lower and BCM 16" middy upper? gee that sounds like a certain rifle I know of....[Coffee]
I think my original budget for an AR was something like 700 dollars, and now I think have around 1400 into it, (and I dont even have an optic yet!)
welcome to the site, and may the rifle treat you well[Beer]

Yeah, I originaly thought that my Mini 14 would be enough rifle for me....
Well, then I was like I am gonna get a sub 1000 dollar AR....
Now I have 700 in to my project and I still need BCG, CH, Hand guard and Rear sight. So I am gonna go over 100 and I still wont have any mags, optics, or a sling :(

Good choice on the build. My last one would have been a build, but I found a screaming deal on a DPMS Oracle. It works for the time being.

Magpul Middy MOE or Daniel Defense Omega Freefloat rail system?

I had the middy MOE before I got a FF rail, and I loved it. I actually still have mine if you want it.
If you have the cash for a float tube, then I would definitely go for it. I would get something modular like a VTAC or a troy, mainly because you can put stuff where you want it, and they're cheaper than most quad rail systems. (Troy TRX rails are my choice, but I'm biased because I have one[Tooth])
As for the other parts you need, if it were me, I would get a Bravo co. BCG (if you can find them in stock), and if you cant get one of those, I'd suggest CMT, LMT, DD, etc... A std. charging handle will do, but if you have the extra cash, get a BCMgunfighter. Theyre one of the better and more practical upgrades to a gun that you can make for relatively cheap. As for a rear sight, in a perfect world, Troys would be the best option, but if your broke like me, then magpul MBUS's would work fine.
All of the above can be found at bowers in centennial, off arapahoe and I-25. they sell plenty of other goodies there too if you want something else. They also sell pmags there too for 15 bucks a pop.
hope this helps,
Kenny

Cool, I did not know there was a local shop that sold AR goodies. That is awesome.

yep, just check out bowers tactical under industry partners at the bottom of the board. Check some other businesses out too, you just might find something else you just HAVE to have[Tooth]

Welcome! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the 501st was part of the armed forces!
Naw, the 501st is a group (over 3000 strong worldwide now) of like-minded Star Wars geeks like me (yeah, I'm a member) who fancy dressing up in movie quality costumes - all Imperial mind you, none of that Rebel scum stuff.
Now, back to the point of this site: Like Leatherneck448 said, Bowers Tactical is a fantastic resource and I can't recommend anyone any better than them - their just good folks!
