View Full Version : Open carry today, Positive.
Carried open today running around in Conifer. Ran into a Jeffco PoPo at the local gas station and he told me "nice 21" as he held the door open for me to enter the store. I love the mountains..
Nice same thing happens when I go down to my parents house in the san Luis valley
Cool, always the same in Bailey,,, but we are Podunk anyway.
Took the quads out last week and open carried, everyone seemed very receptive.
Seems not to be a big issue up here anyway.
Off topic Harris Park will be closed till Dec 31, however you can walk in to the range,,, Doh.
Shoulda told em it was a 20.

Carrying in the valley is nice for sure, where do your parents live? I went to Adams State and we still have a lot of friends down there we still visit.

I have a blast carrying open in and around the metro area. You never know what to expect. I've never had a bit of trouble except from a greeter at Walmart!
It's funny how the jitters go away after you been doing it for a while.
You have to be careful not to stray into Denver or property annexed by Denver!!

I've done it a handful of times in the Aurora area it was interesting (how I felt and the little things I noticed around me)... in a good way.[Pepsi]
I need to do this. I get cold feet but know I should'nt.

reminds me of the culture in parts of Alaska...
if they DON'T see you open carrying when on certain trails- the reaction might be "I hope you're carrying protection... didn't you hear someone was killed on this trail last week?"
but I think it's for a different predator than most open carry for...

Good ol Center graduated high school there thing about the valley is everyone knows everyone for the most part. Spent a lot of time in moose too.
I got some funny looks from bicyclists in downtown near REI when I was buying a new rifle today. I smiled at them when I drove away[Tooth]

Funny looks about the rifle or your gas guzzling mother earth killing 4X4 with special baby seal clubbing off road tires?

We should organize a coar15 open carry day! I carried my CZ-85 today in Greeley, no problems except some weird looks from a couple of gang bangers and some Somali's but that is to be expected.

Sounds good to me. Lets do it soon.

Sweet...may have to "join you" in this effort someday just for the hell of it. I'm all for open carry, especially here in my "home town of Conifer."
I guess that explains a big difference between Evergreen and Conifer... Conifer I'd probably get compliments, Evergreen I just scare those "moderately wealthy Democrats." I've actually been with some friends in Conifer (I was the exclusion doing CC and being from Evergreen) who were walking around with their .45 "cowboy guns" wearing wranglers and cowboy hats- it really looked like something out of a movie because they're bull riders. I would have been the odd man out had I been open carrying due to my love of autos and my lack of owning any wheel guns.

Let us northerners know when and where. I'll join you all

I’m in too. I’ve never open carried, but always think what if.

I'll try to keep track. more awareness seems to work well.

How about an AR-15 carry day Saturday July 2 and Sunday July 3. Fellow Northerners I hope to see a few of you.[Beer]

Great to hear your positive experience along with others on here. I too have open carried as a plain clothed Fugitive Recovery Agent and have had a positive experience until I had to knock someone's door down one night. But in my case it's a little different because I do wear a badge around my neck to let it be known I'm "on duty". But in a non work environment I have thought about open carrying while out and about in JeffCo. But then again I like that tactical advantage of CC.
I've been wanting to open carry but haven't because A) I live in Denver and B) I don't want to bring attention to myself for any reason (it's bad enough that I'm just funny looking anyway :) ). Maybe I'll pull up my skirt, act like a man and open carry my 21 for a week and see how it fits me.
