Took out the new baby today. Put 300 rounds through her and it is incredibly accurate for an AK. Really happy with it. Thinking about grabbing another ak-74 style. Girlfriend loved the tantal, so we'd like to get a second one for a SHTF situation. What do you all think? I've thought about a SGL 31. Tell me what you think.

Another tantal would be nice, how much are they costing now? Would the arsenal be a side foling model? If not then I would advise getting a saiga and convering it yourself. Just my opinion though

I'd honestly like a fixed stock next time. Saiga's have also been on my mind. Kinda wanted a milled receiver.

If you want a milled ak 74 then get an ak74 parts kit from apex gun parts, a new bulgy 74 barrel from copes distributing and a milled ak74 type receiver from cnc warrior. I'd give you a hand with that build for sure ;)

I'll keep it in mind.

Either way if I were you I'd either convert a saiga, or build one yourself (either stamped or milled) it would save you a decent amount of money over a converted saiga and give you the ability to build it as you see fit. Also better quality than the lower end ak's. By the way, apex has barrel-less tantal kits and they are very very nice

Of course the day you break this thing out is the day we're both at the same spot in the middle of BFE at the same time and don't see each other.

You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of your new Tantel would you? If so I wouldn't be opposed to seeing them...

I'm camera less right now. I'll get pics though.
I would stay away from a milled AK. There is no real reason for them. They just add a lot of weight and don't add any real benefit, especially with a light 5.45. If it was a 7.62 I would maybe jump up to a 1.6mm receiver to help stabalize the receiver during firing but I wouldn't do a milled either.
I just built one of the bulgy 74's from Apex and it is freaking awesome! The muzzle break works extremely well and keeps the muzzle down nicely.
I'm thinking of picking up a couple more. Its my new favorite gun.

Ok I'm sold. Probably getting a tantal kit from apex. I'm getting a chrome lined barrel though.
Did some research, milled receiver's aren't that great with ak's they can tighten tolerances and make the ak less ak like.
I have seen alot of stamped recievers blow out, I currently own a stamped wasr10 and I love it, it is unbelievably accurate, just some fyi, If I had my choice I would go with a milled with a 7.62x39, but as far as the 5.45x39 I dont think it matters. Also you can pick up ak74 rifles for 400 online. I kind of want one for the cost of ammo and the damage from yawing affect
