Installing a tapco t6 on my ak. I was first off kind of surprised to have to drill, not sure why that wouldn't come drilled from the factory.

So I drill them down to length with the included bit, and these screws won't go in more then half way. Also they only gave me one screw. Anyway, long story short, the head of one of the screw heads twists off. Just under hand power.

So now I have part of a screw logged in the stock. I would have to drill it much larger to still use this. Do you think ctd will take it back or am I screwed (no pun intended lol)

Any ideas?

Get it back out if you can with some plyers if not call tapco and request a replacement.

Oh sorry. Yeah, call CTD and ask for a replacement. They might make you send back the old one before you get the new one but that is pretty standard.

tap the screw down enough with a flat punch so you are able to remove the stock. Once out remove material around the top of broken screw until you can remove it with a needle nose vice grip pliers.
If the broken one is the one inside the receiver i would say screw it and drill one on the tang. Use a larger drill bit for the hole THEN heat up the screw with something to get it fairly hot. Then screw the hot one in to the stock. fairly easy to do, ask me how i know.

CTD should not fix your mistake on installation. YMMV

1-never use the screws that Tapco sends-they aren't much more than sheetrock screws.
With that being said I can get it squared away for you without sending anything away and waiting.

I know I can help, you are not the first one with this issue that I have dealt with.

Bp, I am also having a hell of a time getting the lower hand guard off.

I am following directions, and looked up videos online, and this thing won't budge. Any tips on that?

Tapco will send you a replacement tube.

You can also dig out the broken screw, fill in with JB Weld, and call then drill that and screw your screw in.

I've been through that before.

I know BPTactical can fix it for you at a good price. He's done some stuff for me and I've been pleased.

This may be CO-AR15 but you have an AK. Why AR-ize it? Here's a a way to get it to look cool.

I know this is not me at this point.... It's literally taken me since about 8 to get these hand guards on.... Had to sand down the parts, use a hammer, wd40 etc. Finally got that, and can't get the bolt carrier back in..... My god this is maddening... What I get for buying cheap stuff.. But damn....

What trick am I missing to get this bolt and piston back in?

JB Weld is good stuff but tricky if not mixed 50/50 just right.

It was my first time using it.. Think it worked.. I'm just pissed that this brand new sling broke on the first use and caused me to drop the gun.... Arg......

Ok got the new tube from tapco. Seems to have installed well... Last thing, how do I get the stock off the bad tube, and on the good (installed) tube?
