I already posted this on several other sites but I finally decided today to sell my LMT M4 AR15 and get a Vector 33K. I ordered it from Vector today. Here is what I am going to do.

Get this gun with no stock or lower housing ( I have my own C&P’d SEF lower)

Add this stock

This forearm, with my Grippod and some rail covers

And this mount with my Eotech 512

It will then be capped off by my YHM Phantom Suppressor.

I think this will be one hell of a host gun for a HK sear.

What are you guys thoughts?

I think the more you spend on that kind of stuff the more that Fleming piece of gold you wish for will be out of your grasp. [wink]

Don't put the cart before the horse is all I am saying.

You might also want to consider the quality of those. I've heard lots of bad dude. Vector stands behind their stuff good, but there is a risk IMHO. Karl.

Thanks HunterCO, but separate funds are set aside for the sear even if I do end up having to pay $12.5K for one. I am just waiting for what I and several others over at HKPro.com think is a seasonal high to sub secede. There is one on Sturm right now for $12.5K that the same guy has re-listed three times, he had 3 sears and sold 2 of them to one guy and has been trying to sell the last one at that price for about 2 1/2 weeks.

There have been three sears listed on Sturm in that 2 1/2 weeks in the $10,500 - $11,500 range but have all sold very fast. Since I can not check Sturm or pretty much any gun related website at work due to the damn websense I have three guys now with my work Email address and my cell phone who will contact me when another one comes up in that range. Would either you or Karl care to make that number 4 or 5 people? If so PM me for my information.

There is always a risk. I have weighed the pros and cons and have been thinking about this since about the time I joined this site. I am guessing the bad things you have heard about the Vector HK type weapons were probably from their first production run of 53's about a year and a half ago. These problems were solved quite some time ago. One of my friends in Layfette has a Vector 53 and a 51, both of which run flawlessly.

BTW, I REALLY do appreciate both yours and HunterCO's concerns and thank you guys for posting them.

I have a V53 SBR and it gave me some ejection problems early on. It was in the first batch of 50. Runs well now.

I have a SOT friend who has a V53 and is very happy with it. Others have been likewise happy with the V93's. I think the .223 production process is matured. You may want to look at this (http://www.uzitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20594) thread from another board.

I also have a Vector MP5 40 pistol. It is stamped Cohaire Arms and seems to be reasonably well made. Shoots fine in semi with their trigger pack. I need to get a 4-pos trigger housing for it so I can try it out with my reg. sear pack.

Vector ihas great customer service but their QC sucks. They also undergo a big learning curve with every new product intro. They built my M92 Krink and did a flawless job. I heard their early AKs had issues. People who send in their Uzis for repair seem to be very happy with the results. They had a famous learning curve with those too. Such is the nature of this niche market I guess.

A word of caution: I would stay away from their new 9mm MP5 clones until they get the bugs worked out. Vector was finishing the receivers when I was there in May so I jumped on the list and received one of the first ones they made. There were enough problems I decided to send it back for a refund. I made sure Rex knew the problem and I'm sure changes will be made to address the more serious issues.

Thanks for the info MuzzleFlash. Vector recently did a run of V33K's for a group buy over on HKPro.com. They have 4 of them left over so if I can get Yankee Hill to make me a QD flash hider metric threaded then they will ship me one of the leftovers. If not they are going to chop a V93 to 33K specs and have the barrel threaded 1/2x28. I have been speaking with HK John at vector and he has been extremely pleasant to deal with.

7idl, I know vector uses some SW parts but they use their own receiver flats (I think they get them from FMP) and stand behind their product a LOT better than Todd Bailey.

I have had several issues with my Vector. I am going to avoid posting on these issues untill I FINALLY get the gun back from them and see if they have made things right.

I'm curious as to what problems you had? I have a V53 SBR I pickud up a couple of months back and put my Sear pack in and and shoots great even with wolf. I only fired 1 mag with the semi pack before putting the sear pack in and I've never had and problems.

Vector threaded his barrel wrong and the first time out with his new Yankee Hill can he got a baffle strike. He only put 20 rounds through it this was at our silencer shoot. We all looked at it and you can see it was not threaded properly.

Here is the link with a pic of the can scroll about half way down.

Just curious. How did this ever play out?

Vector ended up replacing the barrel and sending it to Yankee Hill (the suppressor manufacture) to verify the threads and concentricity. Yankee Hill said the new threads were "barely ok" and sent it back to me. Vector did pay to have the suppressor repaired. I decided not to use the suppressor on this gun anymore and only shoot the suppressor on my AR now.
