Last friday went out to berthouds mx track to practice for a team hare-scramble with a buddy and broke my left humorus bone in two spots and fractured my right elbow. Needless to say im a bundle of joy to be around. One good thing is the ortho said if I can keep my left arm totally immoble for the next 3 weeks I will avoid surgery. I have already started excersises on my elbow to regain some motion back. I was told that there is no way of knowing how much I will motion i will regain back and if I will ever ride again. Anyone have simillair injuries and have any advice? Im selling my wife and my bikes to help cover bills and hopefully when Im healed I can replace them.

got some cool bruises though

Way better than I did, just scuffed the end of the hand grip a lil. I wish I could say it was a great wreck but truth was that I was making a left in to a deep graded turn and I think I grabbed too much front brake and the front tire washed out under loose dirt. I didnt even go over the top, just ended up supermanning it face down in the dirt. I landed on my left elbow and to be honest I have no clue how I fractured my right elbow.

Sounds like a great opportunity to practice one handed shooting, reloads and malfunction drills .
Hell, we all should do that anyways, you never know what can happen...

Good luck with the rehab. I sold the last dirtbike last year because at my age it takes too long to recover from a crash. Miss my old Husky though.

I'd make ya on offer on the Bike but I dont ride for just this reason.

Damn Mazin that sucks! I broke my pelvis about 3 years ago, and had it fixed via acupuncture. I was out of kung fu, no stretching, no exercise, NOTHING for a full month. Only walking and sitting, but NO surgery. Then a month later, I was 2 days away from being able to get back into class and jumped the gun sparring with a friend. I severely tore the ligaments in the outside AND inside of my right ankle, a very severe sprain. If I had broken it, it would have healed faster. Went right back to the same acupuncturist. Walked in on crutches, walked out on my own two feet. I got them both fixed for probably around $300, instead of thousands of dollars, lost ROM and a very long recovery. He told me to make sure I go see him BEFORE surgery. If he can't fix it, then surgery, but let him try first. I'm grateful I did.

Al-x, can you post (or pm) the contact info for acupuncturist?

Lex_Luthor
07-01-2011, 10:07
Looks like some more people are interested in having the contact info for him!

OK HERE WE GO: His name is Dr. Fu and he is located on the northwest corner of Federal and Mississippi. His store is called Indochina Ginseng. I know he visits California pretty frequently so he can be a bit hard to get a hold of. He's Chinese, so sometimes he might not go right out and answer your every question without you asking. He might say "yes, I know what's wrong with you...." and leave you hanging. So you might have to follow up with "what is it that's wrong? and can you please treat it?" etc. Typically, he gives those of us from White Dragon kung fu a pretty good discount, so you can say that someone from White Dragon referred you. When you call, you might have to go kind of spontaneously, because it's not a "by appointment" place. So if you call and if he's in the office, you might just want to head on down there. You might also expect to wait if he has a customer or two in there at the time. Expect to wait, and expect to spend some time in there, but it's worth it. You won't be able to fit a visit down there in a 1/2 hour slot on your schedule. Good luck! 303 936 2663, his wife answers a lot, so you'll probably have to ask for Dr. Fu.

Thanks Alex. I do my best to pass on the experience I have gained, or benefitted from. I know some, but I'm constantly learning. [Beer] How're the hands?

One thing to note: Eastern medicine revolves around fixing the PROBLEM, not the symptoms. Many times, it doesn't matter how painful the treatment is, the end result is the goal. The acupuncture part didn't hurt one bit. It was the massaging of my broken bone fragment back into place, and massaging the ligaments back together that were quite painful. The acupuncture and rest time during the treatment were VERY soothing though.

Thx for the info alx also to everyone for the well wishes. Ihave been working on my right elbow like mad and feel blessed daily that im gaining more mobiltiy and strength. As far as the one hand reloads and drills go I will end up doing that as soon as I can hold and manipulate more than 12 oz, that's why I would take a partial trade on a 1911. I just picked up a lazyboy because my standard living room chair was not allowing me any comfort and I can't lay flat without waking up 2 he's layer in extreme pain
So now I just hope I van seek the bikes and some other stuff to make up for the chair and time off work since I don't have aflak and used the last week of vacation time this week. Hopefully my benefits through my wifes work has a short term dissability program. Sorry about the scatter brained post and bad structure between the perks and my phones crappy touch screen it makes it a challenge to post.

If he says don't move it-then don't move it. I cracked my femur tripping down the stairs about 5-6 years ago. They told me the same thing. The problem is if you screw around with it or move it or do more damage by trying to do too much, the fracture will open slightly, letting calcium deposits grow in there. If that happens the bone won't heal straight, and you'll always be screwed up. Don't move it, don't drink, don't take medicinal marijuana. Just embrace the suck and you'll probably be fine.[Luck]

Well, outside of the dislocated pinky, I haven't broken anything. Which, thinking back on, is quite amazing that I didn't. Though, with both knees, I more less got told I should have broken the legs. It would have been less of a hassle later in life. some days I do believe that.

I'm also thinking, had I the option between the cellulitis and a broken foot, I would have gone with the broken foot. At least there would have been more "glory" to that. [Tooth]

Hope you have a quick recovery.

Callous bastard! Lol jk.
I have nothing on my right arm because the dr wants me to start getting the mobility back in it and it being a fractured elbow he said the rolling motion of putting my palm faced down would be good to do since i work in IT anyway i needed to start getting some of my normal movements back.

I have been able over the last week to get my right arm back on a good movement scale. I can straighten it to about 75% and curl it to about 60%, also i can very slowly roll my forearm to 80% palms up and 100% palms down. Still cant pick more than my 1911 but its progress.

I go back to the dr tuesday for xrays to see if my left arm has seperated anymore, i hope not because if it has ill go in to surgery right away.
