I am planning to tell my HOA to go to hell, pull the grill out of the garage and load it up with ribs and corn. Probably a few hot links as well. MMMMmmm.

I'm sure we'll do ranch burgers and then probably a couple of steaks for dinner. NY Strips of course.

No doubt, gas grilling just aint grilling as far as I'm concerned.

I use to use gas and propane years ago, a friend turned me on to charcoal and I have not looked back. The food taste so much better on charcoal. My two cents the only way to grill is charcoal. It is sad about the fire ban but dam, if I am watching the grill I don't see the problem. Whats the difference gas or propane if left unattended still can catch fire. I think its just common dam sense, to watch the fire and put it out when done.

Start with charcoal, then go wood, I use different woods for everything, cherry, oak, hickory, citrus, mesquite, etc.

The 1st offense ticket is 250, 2nd is 750 and 3rd time caught is $1000 fine. Fucking crazy. No fire works or nothing. I understand its dry season, but dam you have to use common sense and put the dam fire out when done on the grill.

Unfortunately nothing. Stage II fire ban in effect in Teller Co. Smokers have to smoke in their cars. Spread the word to those coming this way, I don't want my house to get torched as it almost did in Hayman.
Thank you and have a wonderful 4th.[Beer]

Don't move to Pueblo until after the fire ban is lifted LOL [ROFL1][ROFL2][ROFL3]then you can enjoy your summer cook outs... Dam this sucks. I can understand flying fireworks could be a problem, but grilling if your watching it like an adult should not be a problem.
Dang that sucks

+1 on this! although I have only used hickory and mesquite. Although wood requires some patience waiting for it to burn down enough, the results are superior.
my plans include ribeyes, burgers, and grilled corn on the cob. and I agree propane is for the birds, charcoal and wood chunks are the way to go.

after taking the above pics, I could not wait till monday, so I made myself a little sample plate, and I added my ccw since this is a gun board after all.[UZI]

Whats the difference gas or propane if left unattended still can catch fire.
The problem isn't with fires started because the grill was left unattended while cooking, the problem with charcoal is that AFTER you finish cooking the coals are still hot enough to start a fire for quite a while. With gas or propane you shut the grill off when you're done.
As for grilling with charcoal during a burn ban, I figure if you're in your own back yard you're not likely to get caught ... unless you start a fire then expect to get raked over the coals yourself.

I put it in the pocket with my pistol, it gets rid of the gun outline...j/k[Flower]

so now wait a sec.
If you are getting raked over the coals, that means someone else has to violate the fire-ban to start a fire to make the coals to rake you over... right?

Where's the McRib when you need it ? (sarcasm) [ROFL1]
Take a 3#coffee can, use a pair of tin snips to cut the can down to about 2 inches tall . Fill with wood chips of your choice( hickory, mesquite etc;)add water, let it soak for about an hour. Set the can on the volcanic rock.Preheat your grill until wood chips start smoking. Gives whatever your cooking a wonderful flavor uuuum...
PS.. Cut down more than one can, use different flavored wood chips to give your guests more choices
PSS.. you could also use a metal pie pan or small shallow metal square pan. I use the coffee can cause i'm a cheapskate.
Happy fourth to all [Fire]
