OD green Glock 20

I have an OD green g20 10 mm and I put a 40 s&w round in the magazine and cycled it through the weapon. My question is will it fire and not harm the gun, it cycled fine, and I have always thought you could fire a 40 s&w in a 10mm just like a 38 special in a 357 mag. Any input would be very helpful. I think Uncle Ted says it's ok. He also goes after wounded buff with a 10mm so he may not value his life as much as you would your own.[ROFL1]

I have heard of people shooting them through the colt, thats why I always thought it was okay. I am getting into reloading, and I am going to make them as hot as I can, if it does not make you bleed through a leather glove then why shoot it. But I just wanted to know about the 40 s&w if it was like the 38/357 thanks for the response guys.

Semi autos headspace on the rim of the brass (generally) revolvers hold onto the base is why 44mag and 44 spec. - 357 and 38 special can be shot safely. On 45acp, 9mm, 380acp ect... when you reload use only a taper crimp not a heavy roll crimp for this reason. [Beer]

As said semi autos headspace on the forward edge of the case. By shooting a shorter 40 S&W in a 10mm you rely on the extractor to hold the round in place. This puts a lot of strain on the extractor and will eventually cause damage, especially in a Colt.

When firing the round might slip off the extractor when the firing pin/striker hits. Depends on the gun. You could then get a jam.

Thats about what i figured is that it would be hard on the extracter. But I do think it would fire, just not sure for how long.
