I'm wondering if anyone else has been noticing this in the greater Denver area.
Last night I heard multiple gunshots -- not fireworks, but a series of small caliber doubletaps -- about 6 blocks away. An hour later I need to drive in that direction and 6th Ave is completely blocked off by about 8 DPD cars, no FD or EMS. Nothing about it in the news today.
About a month ago I heard from a reliable source that there was an armed robbery at a dispensary in Aurora where an employee was wounded and a robber was killed with an AR-15. Police responded. No mention of it in the news. Apparently, there have been a number of armed robberies both inside and outside dispensaries over the past 4 months, nearly all of which have not been reported in the media.
About three months ago a newly opened business in the Capitol Hill area was raided by SWAT with over a dozen emergency vehicles all over the place, and the business closed and never re-opened. No mention of anything in the news.
I can understand minor arrests being unreported due to lack of space, but when a major road is blocked off by police for several hours or when someone is killed during an armed robbery you expect to have some news coverage of that.
I know that in resort towns news blackouts often occur because crime reports frighten away tourists, but Denver isn't exactly a resort town. Any idea what is going on with this? It happens so often around here I'm thinking of getting a scanner.
