Went out to Point Mckenzie (across the inlet from Anchorage) and did a little long range shooting. It was about a 1/2 mile hike and very swampy from the past rain. Targets set up at 475 and 600 yards and plinking with a remy 700 .308 with NF 5.5x22. It's great to hear the report of steel. My buddy has a stock pile of gold match and let us into it, it was a good day.

Nothing like a good trimmed right-of-way. Our targets where out past the second tower on the left.

Sweet! I'm looking to get a Rem 700 .308 very soon. I have kind of a noob question (resist flaming pls): I'm looking to mount a mid-long range mil dot scope (shots average from 100M to 750M approx), what power scope should I buy?

I am going to do a 4-16 on my future .308 build. But I have been told by many experienced shooters that a 10x is sufficient.

I do not have any exp with long range target shooting but hunting p dogs with the 7 rem mag having an adjustable scope is nice. kick it out to 4 find your dog and than zoom in to get a decent sight picture. a single power scope makes it a bit more difficult.
