so most of you know about my range clean ups by now if not here is a link
http://www.co-ar15.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42165
anyway i realize that there are those that want to help or at least want to get in on the end of run shoot (where we will have fun shootin up all the ammo earned)
so my offer is this , save up your brass , steel and shotgun hulks and ill pick it up ,sort it and cash it all in , and spend 100% of the money on ammo for everyone to shoot (finding the best deal of coarse[Tooth])

why you ask ? well this might be a low to no cost way for everyone (coar15 members) to enjoy friends , family , shooting ,fun and food .
there will be 2 weekend dates (yet to be set) , 1 at south site , 1 at squaw pass
i will keep everyone posted on any advancements , total amount recycled and and turned

if you want to get in on this please pm me and we can arrange a pick up

thank you CoAr15 and all its members for your continued support

you would have to collect a shit ton of old brass to actually amount to much in scrap. last time I checked it was only a few cents a pound. I wonder if those once fired ammo places like HSM would buy brass off of you? Or maybe post an ad on craigslist?

even the old stuff gets around 2.00 a pound and the more you bring in the more you get . 100 + pounds 2.24 a pound and so on .
so really this is a great idea and yes i really am willing to do it.

brass is around 2 bucks a pound
steel around 150.00 a ton
yeah i know steel is not worth much but its gotta get picked up just the same so why not turn it into ammo .
week one of regular range clean up and we are making good progress toward the brass for ammo pile , so please feel free to join in the fun

When I would fill a 5 gallon bucket of brass it usually weighed around 55 lbs. Last time I took some in I had three buckets and was paid around $1.85 a pound. I think I got around $300 for it. Most of the brass was stuff I picked up at the range that was left by others. If brass is about $2.00 a pound now it is well worth taking it in.

Sounds like a great idea. Hope it plays out and everyone has a good time shooting ammunition that was purchased with funds from other peoples discarded brass. [Beer]

great news , went to the recycle guy and because of our efforts he will take the shotgun hulks !!! most if not all recycle places will not take them . so id consider this a good thing and an advancement toward this project .

There's also bulletboyammo.com where you can take that brass and get it all reloaded...

i have thought about the reloading idea but a lot of shooters are real picky about ammo . so im really trying to stick to trusted names

Just want to say that i think your a good guy doing something very cool. As far as the factory versus reloaded from bulletboy, i think that bullet boy has enough good reviews to be trusted but it comes down to peoples personal prefrence.
