I just reinstated my flight instructor certificate! Anyone want to learn to fly? I specialize in advanced ratings and training, but love to do discovery flights. They run between $200-$300.

I am currently instructing out of Centennial Airport at Independance Aviation. I am checked out in the C-310 and DA-40 (as of July 14th). I have an ATP, and currently fly Lear Jets/ I have over 6500 hours and enjoy teaching. I have a MEII-Multi-Engine, Instrument, Instructor Rating as well as an advanced Ground Instructor Certificate.

Give me a shout.

I have been thinking about renewing my medical certificate. I have my private pilot's license but I have not flown in a long time and I am few hours. I was thinking about re-familiarizing myself. I know where my logbook is. It is in the crawl space in my army locker. I need to pull it out.

tonantius,

How long has it been since your last flight? We can get you flying without a medical if you just want to refamiliarize yourself with an airplane. To get current, you will need a medical, I recommend Dr. Ladwig-303-333-4411.

After you have your medical, you will need a BFR (1 hour ground, one hour flight-per FAR), an aircraft checkout (2-5 hours, depending upon how fast it comes back to you), and the necessary ground instruction to get you up to speed on current FAR's, airspace, etc.

We rent the DA-40 for $168/hour and it has a Garmin 1000 glass cockpit. Most of our planes are all glass.

Let me know if you just want to swing by and check us out.

I know there are others on this forum that fly. I really enjoy instructing and I teach both flying and firearms (NRA Basic Rifle and Pistol). Let me know if anyone out there has any flying needs. I have a very diverse flying background with a lot of experience.

Thanks,

My entire life I've dreamed of flying, but the cost was always way too much for me. I'd really like to fly commercially, to make my time and money put into training worthwhile. Do you have any advice for people like me? Thanks.

Jason can you explain more about the discovery flights? What's that include? Might be something that many of us may want to give a try.

When I did my discovery flight several years ago, it consisted of taxi, takeoff, a short flight around the area, and approach and landing. I controlled the plane during cruise and long approach, but the instructor kept a close watch, and he had the airplane during the remaining time.

It would be nice, but having been a Blackhawck crewchief in the Army, I think I'd rather fly helicopters. Though fixed wing is still an interest. However, I'm not sure I'd pass medical.

tonantius,

I just started flying again after nearly two decades off...I was last current in 1993. I flew out of Longmont to get my taildragger endorsement at the same time (sorry, Jason). Too much fun! The flying part will come back quickly. Airspace and the regs have changed quite a bit since I last flew, but even that isn't too bad to learn once you set your mind to do it.

Good for you Jason. I accidentally let mine expire and there is no way in hell I'll ever go back to have it reinstated. UHG that's a lot of work.

Well done.

Got one for you. I was a couple of solos away from taking my check ride back in 2003 or 2004. Gas crisis hit and couldn't afford the fuel since I was trading instructor time for A&P time. I am an A&P. So the guy moved and I have no idea where he is or where my logbook is. I know I would have to start over, but does I dependence do any kind of trade like A&P for flight time stuff? If so let's get this ball rolling.
