As a Netflix customer with DVD and Instant service, I'll just drop the Instant only service and save a few bucks a month. Netflix is a much better deal than Redbox if you're watching with movies/TV on a daily basis.
I don't think that Netflix will see the amount of fallout that some are expecting.

That makes no sense. So you are going to drop the streaming service and just get dvd's in the mail? That will cost you $8 per month for a max of 5 movies. Red box is a dollar a movie so you would get 8 movies.
I would just drop the mail service and use their streaming service but all of the movies are old and the streaming is poor quality.
14,000 negative comments on their Facebook page and growing (by about a thousand an hour)

You're right, it doesn't make sense. I meant to say that I was going to drop the DVD service.
We don't watch a ton of TV anymore and haven't had cable for 7 months now. I appreciate the variety of selection that Netflix has and the streaming quality is better than poor but certainly not great.
I'm a special case, not having cable and all, so I won't fit the norm but I still don't think that the customer base is going to drop Netflix all together for Redbox.

I'll be dropping the dvd service, haven't really used it much anyway since doing the streaming method.

I was way off on the rate of growth for the Facebook complaints against Netflix. It's grown 1k since I posted the link. People are not happy. Very excited to see what the investors will do tomorrow at market open.
maybe more people will drop netflix and my streaming and access will get faster and cheaper. [Beer]

Mine says $8 a month for unlimited dvds.. Does that help?

People will just migrate to Hulu.
That's $8 for unlimited dvd's one at a time. With mailing time that's a max of 5 a month. If you are like me and let them sit on your tv stand or mail pile for a week before you watch them it ends up being only 2 a month.

That and Bit Torrent.
Got the email this afternoon and immediately logged in and cancelled the DVD service. I guess I'll just keep streaming for now. Between that and HBOGO, I haven't even watched one of their dvds in a few months.
Damn i just got netflix shortly before my accident and stream the crap out of it all day long. The dvds tend to sit i still have true grit sitting on my stand. This sucks but red box is charged per night correct? Maybe blockbuster can aviod full on closure now.
Other sources are free and others are cheaper than netflix. I never bought into it. we rent maybe a few movies a month so it doesn't make sense for us.
just wait till redbox raises its rental to $1.50 a time. my guess is that is coming soon
Eh, all the stuff I want to watch they never have on streaming... I prefer the DVD method. It just sucks that they are (seemingly) trying a money grab. Lost my service. I can get all the shows I watch for free (hulu, tnt.tv, etc).
Dropped Netflix last night..Going back to bit torrents, he'll with it!

I persoanlly think that Netflix is overpriced at P/E (ttm): 83.65 , and $15.30billion mkt cap?
gees....
All these hypes of Netflix, and their anticipation of growth makes no sense.

that's what my girlfriend brought up last night. She said "why do we even have a multiple DVD plan? We watch maybe one or two a month max".
I'll just drop it to the limited DVD plan. They really have beefed up their streaming selection. And yeah, since I have free DIRECTV, HBO and Cinemax Go, plus all of the turner networks streaming, I don't need much more[Coffee]

i'll drop the streaming and keep my unlimited 3 DVDs. the streaming rarely works, and delivers half the content. frankly, i just don't need it and prefer the DVD, which has captions and is superior in every way, shape or form to the streaming.
I don't know why people are having issues with streaming, I've gone through about 3 full TV series they have on there (what little they actually have every season of) and thus far no problems... I guess it's my blazing fast internet (thanks comcast). I don't really do the DVD method anyway (I've had one DVD since like March and fear sending it back because I'll just get another in the mail to sit and collect dust). My fix, whatever they don't have on streaming instead of waiting 2-4 days for the snail mail I just BT it, watch it, and if it's good throw it on the ol 2TB HDD or delete if I don't like it. I'd rather wait 10-20min for a movie to download than 2-4 days for the mail. Whatever, I'm switching my service to streaming only.
Also, does anyone remember that press release netflix issued a few months ago where they wanted every movie/tv show/etc to be on Watch Instantly? I think they said by July 2012 the whole database should be WI.
The selection and wait times of Netflix sucks. The streaming movies are all old. I can not complain about the quality cause it's comparable to a DVD for me.
I have it simply because I do not have time to go run out to Redbox.. I just had 2 movies sitting there on my counter for almost a month..
I plan to cancel come sept 1st.
Hmmm, company A lowballs all the competition til there is no more. Company A then raises their rates to reap the rewards. No one saw this one coming?
I guess if it's free to download on the web then it must be okay . [Dunno]
If you are using Netflix for streaming TV, dump it and pick up Hulu, they have more shows and better ones.

Netflix pissed me off lol...I had to drop it down to streaming only. Thought about hulu plus...it's only tv shows and home videos though isn't it?

I'll be dropping the DVD service 9/1. Might drop streaming, too, since my new job gives me most of the premium Hulu services for free, and I've got streaming available from Amazon prime.
A 60% price increase is unacceptable to me.

Everyone pissed off at netflix for raising prices, you do realize it's because all the TV networks, movie studios, etc, has raised the licensing costs for Netflix streaming from 100 million to over a billion dollars in the last week, right?
Personally, I recently cancelled Hulu, because I looked through the whole list of what's available for streaming to your TV (not your computer) and barely found anything I wanted to see. Everything was computer only.
I mean, to each their own and all, but at least put the blame on the pricing increase on the people causing the problem.
As soon as I heard about the increase I changed my account to one dvd and no downloads. Never used the streaming anyway.
I go through about 2-3 movies a week so the price, convenience, selection makes it worth it still for me....though I am looking to see what other companies are out there that rent DVD's.
(Streaming does not work well for me as an option at this time, plus the selection is terrible.)
The funny thing is with the new pricing, after dropping the streaming option that I never use...I am paying less per month....go figure.

I don't know which dumb@ss analyst found out the optimum equlibrium for profit maximing, but I think it will hurt them in long run.
I think investors will be all happy to see the price side increase, so that netflix would not have too much pressure getting/gathering new subscribers.
I am gonna watch companies that does a complimentary services, and short the NFLX.
They are way over priced in terms of DVD/STREAMING RENTAL and PRICE OF A STOCK.
What do I do?
I watch foreign movies for free online, and goto redbox dvd.
I just got into foreign movies not too long ago, and it is fun.

Short came through for me. It's $20 down from its high point. Took a little longer then expected. Sometimes it takes the public a few ways to catch on!

few days before and/or on 3rd week of friday (when option clears) would be fairly intersting.
