Not many choices, I pay $60 for standalone 5mb DSL (Qwest) with a single static IP address.

Any DSL service will essentially be Qwest (Centurylink) resold by a 3rd party.

So its really still Qwest or Comcast.

One Option may be Verizon Wireless broadband. Verizon has very fast internet in some cities, but not Denver.[Luck]

I just use the Qwest stand alone DSL and really don't have any complaints. I think we have the 20mbps, and have it for like $35 a month for the first year

Call Comcrap and tell them you are going to cancel your service. They will connect you with the Customer Retention department. I pay $29.71 a month for a supposed 20Mb connection. They have tried to raise it 3 times, and each time we have come back to this number with Customer Retention.

talked to them before I made this post. she basically said she can knock it down $5 a month or drop to the lower end 3mbps service. apparently we are only at 12mbps service now...when I was sold it they told me it was 24.

so $65 a month is the lowest they would go, I threatened to cancel, said I would get the quest service for $30 a month and she told me they don't price match.

You talked to the wrong rep. I've done this for over 3 years, and i am still at $19.99/month for 7mbps.

Call back and give them qwest's prices. If they can't match it, leave.

I've had to play the "cancel" game with Comcast a few times. I'd go with another provider but Comcast has the best service here by far so I'm forced to play along if I want decent service.

I have comcast triple play. Boosted Internet, phone and cable(DVR, HD channels and that's it, no premium channels) and pay $185-$200 a month. I'm being raped and they have always worked with me until recently and now I have to sign a contract to lower my bill..WTF! I'm just gonna drop them and find another Internet source, plus tv cuts into my gun time[Tooth]

When I canceled Dish Network all of the sudden they wanted to give me free months, discounted service, etc. Where were they the other seven years I had their service?

I have wireless at the house but don't recommend it. Quest DSL and Indras Net at the shop. Not cheap but always works.

Okay, took a deep breath and was very nice to them this time when I called, Mindy was awesome, knocked $15 a month off for 6 months and $10 a month off for the following 6 months, so I can't complain too much now. I just get annoyed when I was told a certain price after a promo offer then other things start increasing for no apparent reason.
obviously a lot of people really don't care and just pay it, but you start adding those costs up and you are talking 1000 rounds of 5.56 each year.

I'm happy now, thanks for the help and offers from everyone

I just signed my dad up for business service in Oregon and the 12Mbs was $65 per month, no taxes and that included the modem. The price has a 36 month lock in.

I am on an introductory price with Comcast.
If it expires, I will most likely do the same as what you guys are doing.

Yeah, we called to cancel (for real) and they cut our bill in half for a few months. Just yesterday we called to make a payment, and the guy was like, "Are you calling about how we're taking some channels away and not dropping our prices?"

Some people are going to lose a few channels they werent paying for to start with. Some packages had extra channels that are now being taken away. That I understand, but Comcast is a joke!

Unfortunately, as I informed you via PM, I don't have the solution for Comcrap anymore. It was nice before the figured out the exploit and I could get 32mbps down for free. Also had no way to track my downloads and usage. Since they secured their network better I decided to pay for an account since they were the best game in town (not saying much) and now I have nothing but regret. Awful slow speeds and then I started getting emails and written letters about my downloads... they're monitoring customers downloads and usage and passing along the info to movie studios so I can be threatened with litigation. WTF?!? This is what I get for trying to be an honest paying customer? All this treatment does is make me want to find a way around the system once again. These companies wonder why consumers find ways to pirate their services and they fail to look at themselves. If they would offer a decent service at a decent price with decent customer service this wouldn't happen. Instead they offer inconsistent service at high prices with horrid customer service and to top it all off they monitor what it is you do with your bandwidth. Yeah, that's what I want to pay for.
