National Rifle Association's Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre addressed the United Nations this afternoon. He told the U.N. to not interfere with the Second Amendment freedoms of Americans and pledged to continue the fight to preserve civilian ownership of firearms in the U.S. He said the NRA will oppose any U.N. provision that seeks to prohibit or regulate U.S. civilian firearm ownership. LaPierre said in his remarks, "The cornerstone of our freedom is the Second Amendment. Neither the United Nations, nor any other foreign influence, has the authority to meddle with the freedoms guaranteed by our Bill of Rights, endowed by our Creator, and due to all humankind."

Next time you get to Colorado let it be known you shall not have to buy your favorite beverage statewide.

Oh if only, but all those blowhards in the UN might be impossible to get them out of the gravitational pull... Besides, they have about 500,000 tons of those "nasty letters" and blank embargo documents, the only real "power" the UN has. Seriously, everyone out there laughs at the UN. I talked to a guy who used to be a platoon leader for the Rhodesian army (when Rhodesia was still a country) and he said (in that cool South African accent): "Who can fear a military organization that wears baby blue and allows French officers to command?"

And look what has become of the breadbasket of Africa. [Bang]

He could care less, he was working for a security contracting company in Afghanistan and resides in Grand Cayman. Africa is a lost cause... has been for a while now.

Im fairly stunned. Havent seen much from the NRA besides waffling in a while. It would seem they reached down and found the little pair they had left though. I hope to see much more of this from them.

if we really want to make the UN suck it, we need to just peace out and tell them we are done defending the world and then being ridiculed and accused of war crimes for it. they can fight their own damn battles and pay for them to boot. i tell you the second with withdraw the whole shebang collapses and we can scratch one more corrupted organization of the board.

This week, Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) sent a letter signed by himself and 12 of his Democratic colleagues in the Senate stating their firm opposition to any U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) that included civilian firearms.

The letter, sent to President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton, states, “First and foremost, the Arms Trade Treaty must not in any way regulate the domestic manufacture, possession or sales of firearms or ammunition.”

That clear sentiment was bolstered by the declaration of support for the individual right to bear arms. “Firearms possession is an individual right guaranteed by the Second Amendment and that cannot be subordinated, directly or indirectly, by any international treaty.”

The signatories made it clear that they would not support any treaty that does not respect the fundamental rights of Americans.
