we do live on 48 acres of mixed wooded and clear land about 15 minutes from Canon City and near the Royal Gorge. There are some decent clearings suitable for pistol and rifle shooting - I haven't measured their lengths but I don't think rifle shooters will be too limited. The land has a "mountain" as a backstop and beyond that it is all BLM land.
It's not a range as I've said but forum members and their friends and families are welcome to come and shoot just about anytime. Facilities - well you can pee in the bushes or if more is needed use the house restroom, and cold water from the fridge is always there too.
Safety is of course of paramount importance. There are no range officers etcetera so I would expect visitors to exercise due diligence in this matter and police themselves. I would also ask that courtesy and consideration be extended to other visitors who are either already here or arrive whilst you are shooting. I'm not insured as a shooting range so no lawsuits against me or my wife if anything goes bang when and where it shouldn't :P
No charge for your visit(s) obviously, but please shoot targets only - we like our wildlife. A bit of cleaning up after you're done shooting would be appreciated.
If you need a free place to shoot (I could never find one that was safe !!) just drop me an email and I'll send you my phone number. Offer extended to bona fide members and "genuine shooters" - no weekend warriers or "black gun blasters" please. Not being rude and hope you all know what I mean - I love those "black rifles" too but they do seem to attract more than their fair share of plain old turf busters. Vets excluded of course - fire away.
